Deepslate & Cobbled Deepslate

With the introduction of the more fitting name of "Deepslate" we have also gotten a "stone" variant and a cobbled variant, however, many others and I think that there is a missed opportunity to have the Deepslate be smooth on all sides.

Having the Deepslate be smooth on all sides and not just the top will allow for more variation and will make the cobbled version look a lot more unique.

I and everyone else loves these blocks, and I think this would make it all the better.

    I agree the current natural stone looks like a bunch of bricks almost, it should be smoother when it naturally generates. The name "Grimstone" also sounds weird, sounds like a 12 year old came up with it (no offense)

    I agree with this idea.

    Giving Grimstone a more smooth and natural looking texture would make it fit the caves better, and using the current texture for Grim Cobblestone would make a lot of sense and keep the builders happy.

    absolutely! i love the blocks but if they worked in the same was as stone and when you mined them youd get cobbled grimstone

    It would be a shame to lose the current texture for grimstone. I really do love its look in building, and it has a lot of potential in that sector. While it personally doesn't work in a cave during high light circumstances, having it as the texture for its cobble variant is brilliant! You get the best of both worlds that way!

    I agree. I love the texture of Deepslate as a building block but it's far too busy for a stone replacement. I think the addition of cobbled deepslate indicates an upcoming retexture for regular deepslate, as they currently look very similar. I would love for the regular block to keep a similar dark, sedimentary look, but it currently looks more like blackstone bricks. If the different texture colors were more similar, that would definitely help.

    I agree 100% The default Deepslate looks too much like bricks - the naturally generated caves look like they are made of bricks because of it. I'd LOVE to see smooth Deepslate have the top and bottom textures on all sides, and when mined they turn to cobbled Deepslate, like Stone!

    I think the Deepslate should be smoother, yeah. Even with the current retexture it doesn't look right. I think it should be closer to regular stone in surface texture. Not completely, but still smoother. It looks a titchbit busy. Maybe just making it like Netherrack, where the texture is there but the contrast isnt as bad.

    I also think that it should be a bit lighter. Either that or you should be able to make building stuff out of Tuff, because as of the current snapshot the gradient between cobble and Deepslate is still too rough. 

    I think its a perfect idea to make a smooth gradient between blackstone, Deepslate, and Cobble.

    Pls don't feel bad but almost everyone wants the name of deepslate to be grimstone back as it was earliar because:

    1. There is no Slate so where is the topic of Deepslate coming from this doen't feel a very Minecrafty thing, as almost everything is inter-related.

    2. Grimstone is cool and a lot more scarier (creepy) as the whole point is to make the caves scarier.
