It feels like it needs something else to craft.

    Like pipes or bars/grates.

We should have rose gold armor and tools.. (This is not my idea.) Basically, rose gold armor and tools would be made by combining gold armor and tools with copper with the smithing table. It would have the strength and speed of gold tools with the durability of copper. I feel like it would be helpful for extending mid-game content and allowing players to ease into diamond tools and armor more easily.

Copper pipes is a good suggestion.

A copper based piston with a larger push limit would be fun.

It would be awesome if copper could be used to craft programmable robot from minecraft education edition.

Copper chains sound like an easy recipe to expand the worth of the (So far) seemingly endless abundance of the new ore copper as well further splice up mineshafts! They could naturally spawn as fully oxidized in the new hanging mineshafts, specifically ones that generate closest to the deep dark. While of course not dropping when broken to retain the worth oxidation over time being left to the player. Adding to the color scheme and theme of the deep dark when in lower parts of the world. :)

we need a gamerule to specifically change how fast copper rusts, because the amount of time people play minecraft is vastly different and to get a sense of history it should take far longer than just a few hours by default

MoltenDoritos this has already been confirmed by lady agnes, the amount of time shown on minecraft live was just a placeholder.

I'd be up for a new light source block made from copper. Building blocks are always a nice addition, but if I don't want to use copper for that, then it appears I'm mostly out of luck, and will have a lot of copper lying around. Light sources are always useful, though, so I could see myself using a lot of those if the block looked nice.

A lamp block that could be placed directionally, like a piston, for decorative purposes could be neat. Both sides would look a bit different, so you could use it differently in builds.

Copper should be used in crafting tools & armor:

It would be neat to have a copper-based armor in the game. In real-life, Bronze was the go- to metal for making weapons, armor, and tools before discovering iron. Also, Bronze is a alloy, made of up of copper and tin. Similarly, Bronze armor & tools in the game could be made up of something like copper & gold or copper & iron. Basically, you could take a golden (or iron chest plate) and combine it with a copper ingot in the Smithing Table to create a Bronze chest plate, (just as you would upgrade your diamond tier set to Netherite). This would be beneficial for the following reasons:

    • Perhaps Bronze tier tools & armor could have the durability of iron, but the effectiveness of gold. For instance, a bronze axe would cut down trees as fast as a gold axe but be much more durable than a gold axe.
    • Being inferior to diamonds, it wouldn’t impact the eventual need to upgrade to diamond tier mid-late game.
    • This would give copper ore more practicality and importance in the game, other than being a decoration block
      • I.M.O., Ores are supposed to be essential in crafting recipes and have specific functionality- making tools & armor, cooking, redstone, trading, and enchanting, etc.
    • It would give players a chance to learn how to use the Smithing Table in the Overworld before crafting their first Netherite set
    • It bridges the gap between gold & iron and iron & diamond.

Maybe we can somehow craft a chain-like wire using copper nuggets and that would function like red stone dust? Instead of moving red stone signals, it would move lighting from the lighting rod.

You should add a copper armor that acts as a mobile lightning rod, it would have around the same defense as iron. And when your struck by lightning the next time you hit something it takes damage equeal to a lightning strike /and/or  that when you get hit its like a stronger thorns that makes the attacker take damage.

It could also be that if you fell down like 5 blocks or so that it would disperse into the ground and the lightning ability gets "terminated". Also there could be a animation like when tools are enchanted but sparks instead.

The wearer still takes damage from the lightning strike so it doesnt encourage going out in a storm with copper.

Make copper easily renewable as it's a building block. That, and make the oxidize time much longer, to truly show history in ancient builds.

This is a basic ore. basic ores come in packs of 2,3, or 4.

They should add Lead, Silver, or Mushroom ore.

    • Traps/Redstone.

How about turning copper ingots into gears, that could be used in crafting all sorts of traps such as a snap trap or extending spikes for example? As in real life, copper is connected to power it would make sense to have it somehow connected to electricity, however in Minecraft the main source of power is redstone so it could go side to side with it and be used to replace some of the  components in already existing redstone recipes (gold in powered rails, iron in the piston, etc.)

    • Progression/ Bronze

We could extend the progression a bit by adding tin ore, that similarly to copper, could be used as a building material, but combining it with copper would result in getting bronze. Then, bronze tools could be used to obtain iron. It would make it a necessity to obtain copper and therefore give it a guaranteed use.

    Wood-->Stone-->Bronze-->Iron-->Diamond

Copper should definitely have something unique about it, at the moment its just an ore for a decoration block, i feel like all ores should have their own unique functionality (coal: fuel, iron: industry, redstone: redstone, etc.). One suggestion for an interesting mechanic can be what I saw another comment say, pipes (liquid trasnportation), I dont have any more feedback than that, and it probably is hard to just come up with a fun, unique mechanic on the spot, but I definitely feel like it should have a use. (maybe it can have something to do with electricity (different from redstone) something similar to simply sarcs video.

Since copper ore can be set to a random rotated position, some faces should show more orange parts and others should show more green parts. I believe this would make a good fit for ores having one primary color each while still having copper be unique.

While I think the current uses of Copper are very interesting, if they're not given more utility in the regular survival gameplay I'm worried it will just become something that most survival-orientated players will annoyingly aggregate or dispose of.

I think this may be the case due to Copper and Iron having such a highly overlapping area (not an issue by itself) which would likely result in mining trips where you don't find Iron and instead find a lot of Copper, a resource that doesn't really contribute to survival gameplay, and is so far useless in the early game.

I think Copper Armour and Tools should be added IF there isn't a plan to make Copper more useful, so at least in the early game if you end up finding more copper than Iron you won't be stuck with Stone tools.

I can see Copper as the utility Metal used to craft more unique gear like the telescope and potentially similar tools, however, idk what other tools should be added.

If Copper tools and armour were in the game I think they should be slightly slower and less protective than iron, but better than Leather armour. Copper would be the "In a desperate situation" resource between Stone and Iron that most people would skip over.

However, I do like the idea of gear that could change colour with time showing it's age, and if that's not a base feature I would expect it from something like Optifine

Wiktor Selega I think it should be wooden ---) stone---) iron---) bronze---) diamond.

Since Bronze is a combination of two ores, it is harder to get than iron and should be better than it. Putting Bronze in a smithing table with an iron tool should make an iron tool, since bronze is an alloy.

Alloys? We already have iron, gold, and now the addition of the wonderful copper. There are many possibilities, imagining a brass instrument or a way to coat iron armor for cosmetic affect

Copper is one of the most important component in every single electrical device nowadays. If copper's main use is to craft blocks, and only "electrical/redstone" or other use is to craft a thunder rod or a telescope, I would be quite dissapointed. Copper has to have an electrical related use. It doesn't necessary have to deal with redstone, but it must be linked to a new source of energry. I would be sad if a whole new ore was mainly use just for building.

There are plenty of great ideas for copper uses, and I personnally like Simply Sarc's video on it, but I really do think copper should be related to a new form of energy, just like in the real world.

This is just my oppinion, hope you like it.

I think copper should be a conductor for a new type of energy, just like redstone. Since we have lightning rods, this energy could be some kind of electricity, and we could be able to move it around using copper blocks connected one with the other.

I saw an idea for the "copper minecart(credits to Sebastien Sighel)" and I would like to add on to it.

So as the minecart weathers, it will become slower. Players should use Bee Wax or something and [shift + right click] to "un-weather" the minecart by a little bit(like maybe 1 or 2 days) every time the player uses the Bee Wax on the Copper Minecart.

killergamer294 had an excellent idea that I would like to add to, in order to provide some clarity. "i have a new item idea that uses copper

mining helmet that give you night vision when equipped

crafted with 5 copper and a glow ink sac

copper doesn't have that many recipes so this would help"
Instead of the glow inc sack, maybe a redstone lantern instead.
    The mining helmet would:
Not break in the traditional sense, but simply need to be kept charged with redstone blocks in order for it to work.
Provides night vision while charged and worn.
Some way to turn on and off.
So as not to make night vision potions obsolete, this can be a good early game spelunking tool.
To make sure of that, it should be resource heavy. 1 redstone block should net you 15 seconds of night vision.

What if you added copper ingots to gold tools on an anvil to make the gold tools more durable? Gold with copper in it is stronger, so you could add the copper to boost the durability of gold up to a little bit less than iron. Since gold is faster, it would make gold a decent choice for tools if you can find copper

Hi, so I have a suggestion about copper including the smithing table

It would be very interesting to see copper being used to "upgrade" gold tools and armour just as how netherite "upgrades" diamond tools and armour, since copper is a very unique ore.

Now I do not think this copper armour should be a late game item or at all close to netherite's level in terms of durabilty, speed or toughness. I would rather like to see it being between iron and diamond tools/armour and be considered a mid-game item. This could be achieved by making the copper armour as durable as diamond but be as tough as iron or vice versa. For the tools, they could be as durable as diamond with the same mining speed as iron or vice versa, and have the sword be as durable as diamond, dealing only as much as an iron sword or yet again, vice versa.

All of these copper-related tools and armour would keep the same enchanting abilites as gold armour and tools already have to make them more unique, or possibly make the chance of getting a higher enchantment even greater. To make up for this, wearing a copper helmet (or any copper armour at all) could increase the risk of getting struck by lighting during a thunderstorm or rainstorm.

These ideas would make up for a great mid-game item with unique quirks and abilites, giving copper its own armour and tools which many players (including myself) has been excited about, then disappointed finding out that will not happen. This would also give the smithing table more uses.
