    An ax is no worse than a sword as a dual weapon (we can somehow hold a shield in the second hand, as with a trident).
    There should be DPS balancing depending on whether the second hand is free, since with the free second hand we can better balance, hold the weapon handle with both hands.
    This means that we have reduced damage and one-time attack speed if the second hand has a shield, a second weapon, a potion, whatever. This is especially true of polearms (trident), because stabbing with one hand is not very comfortable (but historically common, because warriors would prefer to have a shield in the second hand).

    I believe that almost all items are suitable for dual use, since all tools are small (tools of about 1 meter in length or less are quite common) and even for their intended purpose can be used with one hand, and the second can be occupied by a torch, shield. And two-handed heavy tools and weapons should be crafted from basic ones with the addition of sticks, and when using them, the second hand should be blocked for any item.
