In minecraft bedrock we do not have the protection of hostile mobs that attack the villagers so we lose the villagers and the hard effort it takes to take care of them but sometimes we are not able to save them and unfortunately in 1.16.201 if the golem sees the villagers become a zombie villager this kills him and we have no chance to heal him since the golem or the day cycle kills them.
They can include a 1 minute spawn of golems long enough for them to protect the villagers until there are no hostile mobs for the villagers with a nearby radius of 16x16 as one protection chunk per villager or those in the game's default chunk and once there are no mobs they disappear. An example their state of life is also based on 1 minute of life and cure them with iron as in Java.
