    I feel like that would just take away the unique ability that axes already have, nerfing axes further when they need a buff.

    Shields are OP only against mobs. Players have better options like totem of undying and End Crystals (whose explosion bypasses the shield)

    I agree - But I feel like a better option might be to simply nerf the shield's ability to sustain a block, rather than souping up swords. Someone posted a thing about "shield fatigue," where someone could only block a certain number hits before their guard is broken, and they become vulnerable. Maybe critical hits and charged attacks could do more damage to someone's shield bar? This would extend shield disabling to everyone, in way that's balanced across both weapon types, and nerf shields in general at the same time.
