In Java Edition, you can press F3 + D to clear your chat quickly.

Other than that, commands currently cannot clear your chat, the only other way is to print 100 new lines to move the existing text out of the way, which isn't ideal, so this is a welcome idea.

But it would need another argument to be effective, a target selector to choose which player to have their chat cleared. For example, /clearchat @p would clear the chat of the nearest player.

    I literally needed that today.

Today I was messing with command blocks and that would have been useful with the text that executes commands. I made an elevator that, when entered would show the buttons as text. Clicking them would teleport the player to one of two places, but I didn't want the player to be able to teleport when being outiside of the elevator. I was able to fix that with "[distance=..12]", but a /clearchat command would be useful to make the elevator menu disappear.

The command could work like that:

/clearchat @p - Clears chat of nearest player.

/clearchat @a @s - Removes all your messages from everyone's chat (If you acidentally sent something you shouldn't).

/clearchat @a @e[type=!player] - Removes messages sent by mobs affected by the "/execute as" command, but doesn't remove messages sent actual players.
