Copper redstone machanic

You can craft copper into copper wire which acts the same has redstone but doesn't connect to it. Copper can also have another function that redstone doesn't which is being able to place it up walls, since it's a wire it makes sense. You can tweak this idea all you like but I'll be happy if copper has a redstone ability

    Maybe it should act like redstone dust, but is unable to connect with it and has a shorter range to compensate for its ability to go up walls? something like a ten block max distance instead of fifteen

    Exactly what I was thinking, this is definitely a Minecraft-y approach to vertical redstone and will be a great use to copper. Being able to use coppered redstone next to regular redstone without connecting can also make for more compact redstone contraptions. 

    I agree with one of the other comments, there needs to be a drawback to make redstone distinct and not obsolete. It may be counter intuitive to real life, but if the copper redstone had a slight tick delay on useage, like a repeater for example, this can make the regular dust more useful for quick actions and coppered redstone more useful for compact redstone.
