Bats and the Sculk both use sound to locate other creatures, so the fusion makes sense to me.
I imagine a bat that wandered in the deep dark and got taken over by the Sculk, changing into a giant beast that can injure and hit the player off into a rovine or down a pillar they made. I think it would be a good challenge for the mid game.
It would be found asleep hanging upsidedown on ceilings and walls, more frequently spawning in the large caves and ravines, but in some cases also in the narrow caves.
The player can fight it or sneak by as it works in the same way as the Sculk sensor. It introduces the new mechanic of sound, with lower stakes if you fail compared to the Warden
Some would say that it takes away from the unique mechanic of the Warden, but I think that any Good horror creature needs a little bit of foreshadowing, establishing that Sculk and Sound are dangerous. They are also different enough so it could work.
I do think it shouldn't spawn in the deep dark as to not steal the spotlight.
Bats will no longer be ignored, because now when you hear the sound of the Bat you'll know to look around you and be quiet, or else...
