In real life, Peridot can be found forming in Basalt deep within the Earth’s upper mantle. Since there is already Basalt in the game, as well as plans on making caves go way deeper, why not add the Peridot ore, per se? This will add more crystalline ores in the game, aside from the already existing amethyst geodes, and Peridot is indeed called Chrysolite. My plan is when a brush is used on Basalt, it has a chance of dropping a Peridot ore. Since Basalt is only found in the Nether, maybe if it gets added in the Overworld by chance it can be possible.
In our history, Peridots were used to ward off fears and nightmares, maybe it can be used to remove negative potion effects/others in the game! After all, Crystals are used for healing properties, and what better chance than the cave update. Also, in the past Peridots were mistakened for Emeralds, so it can play a factor in a feature of tricking villagers into trades (or it ends up getting back at you, with bad items being traded back when they realise its not an actual emerald).
