People have been saying that frost walker boots should prevent sinking in powder snow, but I think that defeats the purpose of leather armor. So what if walking on powder snow with frost walker boots changes it to regular snow? It would give new use to the enchantment without making leather boots unusable again.

It is super cool you take cold damage in powdered snow and you can get rid of it by having leather armor on. I think additional things that would make this effect more realistic is if in cold biomes and snowstorms you also get this cold effect unless you have leather armor on. This would be weaker in just a cold biome, slightly stronger during snowfall and super strong if in powdered snow. It would also be nice if a campfire could get rid of this effect in a small area around it. Also, it would be interesting if a hot effect were applied if you use this armor in the nether or other hot biomes.

Another interesting idea is to have powdered snow turn into some other type of snow block if under enough other snow blocks. say on top it is powdered snow ... a few down its packed snow and a few more down it makes ice or blue ice or something. This would mimic real-life snow that is only powdered at the very surface but as you go deeper gets more packed till eventually forming some sort of ice.

Not a big fan of changing the powdered snow so it's only obtainable in buckets.

Is there a layer of powder snow that is unminable?

I think it takes too long to take freezing damage, to the point it is not threatening at all to fall into Powder Snow.

Another suggestion- (just a little cosmetic thing) could powder snow look slightly more like regular snow? That would make gameplay a little trickier and traps and secret doors easier to make.

I personally like the powdered snow. The little flakes on the sides are awesome. The idea to use leather armor as an help in the snow are really cool and I love that the amour is more likely to use in an survival world.

    Hello.

Rather than one leather armor piece being enough to completely stop powdered snow from chilling the player, why not make it so that each piece slows down the process by 25% (or something like that)? This way, in full leather, the player will be kept completely warm, but simply putting on leather boots won't have the same effect. This would be the same for mobs, as well, since they can spawn with leather armor pieces.

Since Powdered snow is in a bucket it makes sense to make it act like water and "Powderlog" things like stair, fences and such.

Layered snow should also act this way since it will make snow snowier than before!

The way that leather armor stops frostbite damage is cool, but it shouldn't be "If you're wearing a piece of leather armor you're immune" but rather the armor should slow the freezing process the more you have on. This would encourage players who plan to explore the mountains to put themselves at a higher risk of dying to something like fall damage or a stray, rather than getting stuck in snow and freezing to death. The freezing damage should also be a little bit faster, in my personal opinion.

Powdered snow buckets should work with dispensers. Water and Lava buckets work with dispensers, so why not Powdered Snow buckets?

The more important the part of the body is that the leather armor is covering, the more that armor would protect you from freezing damage. For example, the chestplate should provide the most protection, seeing as it covers the heart. Perhaps falling into powdered snow without leggings or boots would give the player temporary slowness. Also perhaps if you're wearing nothing but leather boots, the initial impact of falling into the powdered snow could cause a heart or two of initial freezing damage, just like the cold shock you get from jumping into snow waist deep in real life.

    Hello,

I really like making things with commands and datapacks.

I would find it really helpful if it was possible to give someone the freezing effect with commands.

    Thank you,

It would be good if snow golems didn't take damage from the freezing effect, like strays, and standing in powdered snow would stop snow golems from dying in hot biomes.

You should not be able to place powder snow in the Nether. If you do, it should disappear like water.

First, the freezing mechanic should be a status effect that can be applied with commands

And second, I would love to see freezing used in more ways in 1.17 other than in powder snow, especially with the seemingly cold, high- altitude climate of the upcoming mountains. I think in a cold biome, if you aren't near a light source for a long enough time, the frosty edges should begin to creep onto the screen and if you don't put down a torch or campfire soon you'll start to freeze. Similar to powder snow, leather armor would increase the amount of time it takes to freeze, with full leather armor fully protecting you from freezing. During the daytime freezing wouldn't happen nearly as quickly, if at all. During a snowstorm, freezing would happen more quickly.

Mainly, I think this would provide ambience to cold biomes more than anything. It wouldn't be too hard for a player to wear a bit of leather or to put down a torch for a bit when they get cold, and even if they do start to freeze, freezing damage is really slow. But the effect of a dark night with snow rushing in front of your face and the frost appearing on the edges of your screen indicating imminent danger I think would be amazing.

Powder Snow Buckets should at least be stackable to 16. It is really annoying having to fill one whole slot with only one Powder Snow Bucket.

Snow golems shouldn't sink into powder snow. Right now snow golems sink into and freeze to death in powder snow, which is a little weird for creatures made of snow. Since mobs like rabbits already don't sink into snow, the snow golem should also be included in this list.

Resting foxes should wake up when taking freeze damage if they fall asleep next to a powdered snow block. While sleeping the fox gets pushed into the block and takes freeze damage until it dies.

I think its to obvious where the powdered snow is because the snow around it will have the extra snow layered on top so when your walking you can see an area with no snow layer on top and know that's where not to walk. I think there could be a powdered snow layer function just like regular snow. this could also work by its self so at the mountain tops your trudging through a layer of snow slowing you down and showing how cold it is up there.

Ya como saben muchos en la vida real el peso hace que nos inunda en varias de las cosas.
Así que creo que tener caída de pluma no te inundarias en la nieve en polvo

for some reason you are able to place powder snow in the nether, not sure if thats on purpose or not.
