- Release Bedrock on MacOS and Linux
- Discontinue the Java Edition
- All Java players get free access to a copy of Bedrock
- Add as many Java features to Bedrock as possible
I know, I know that the Java Edition is iconic, but doing this will make sure all Minecrafters can play with each other on the same game while ensuring a lot of Java features stay.

no i hate this idea because making bedrock the main version removes free texture packs free worlds free skins mods data packs and more features that bedrock wont and will never support. also bedrock runs a different way then java so java players having to quit they're main version for some idea that someone is idot
Hi
Hi
Seems kinda pointless. Or just a jealous java/bedrock player.
Then bedrock should be able to get mods and add on’s In the store
Have you ever played a multiplayer game on console bedrock only to find yourself absolutely obliterated by PC players? You're just asking for that, except every single player is gonna be on PC. Realize that java edition is iconic for having mods, players are literal nuclear missiles at everything multiplayer including PVP, Spleef, etc. Discontinuing java edition for a defective bit of multiplayer half-improvement is like throwing a pebble at a bear.
That’s a horrible idea
Seriously, they need to just discontinue Java already. It’s so pointless to have 2 PC ports especially when 1 is running on outdated code with servers that are terrible. Just get rid of it so the game can finally grow better than the 1 or so update we get a year now with the dead weight of Java we’re lugging around.
Why not make Java Bedrock?
DominoCreeper CrisisCrusaders
Skins, Texture Packs, Behavior Packs, and Global packs can still be free and downloaded just the marketplace is a secondary (or primary) way to get maps, skins, and behavior packs, also you can earn accessories from achievements!no
i hate this idea. i just hate the way bedrock is. java has freedom to do what u want. i also hate the idea oof moderating
This is the most idiotic idea ever. Java is the core of Minecraft. You have the freedom to do everything you want. Creating mods, servers, texture packs, etc. The only thing you have to pay for is is the game itself. No Mccoins. No realms as the only server host. If Microsoft want to discontinue it, they're gonna make alot of people of the Minecraft community angry + alot of members of Mojang staff itself as they prever Java more then bedrock (like you can see in every new update showcase during minecon/minecraft lives). And I know that both editions have good and bad points, but I know that java is the core edition of Minecraft.
No, just no. Minecraft Bedrock is far inferior to Java Edition. For Various reasons this sort of comment should not even be suggested to the devs. Not only are they two entirely separate communities for entirely different kinds of players, but there are fundamental differences that make this sort of change downright awful. Minecraft Bedrock Edition ruined many qualities that define Minecraft and give it its name. Minecraft Java encourages the modding community; allows for the industrious mega servers (Hypixel, Mineplex, etc) to exist; and for individuals to make custom, modded, or even optimized servers with ZERO cost. Moreover, it does not swindle in the utilization of negative micro-transactions that have tanted the world of Bedrock.
The gameplay, primarily in regards to: smoothness; graphics; and frame-rate is far superior in the Java Edition. Gameplay is far smoother, graphics are better, a steady frame rate is more common and the features are less inclined to a younger audience. Bedrock does not include skeleton strafing, has decreased zombie notice ranges, and other "minute" features that have non-minute consequences.
MOST Importantly, Bedrock world generation crippled the game. Decreased density of vegetation and mob spawns, especially in jungles, has made biomes feel barren and overly similar. Too similar to No Man's Sky's boring and easily forgotten terrain generation. Minecraft Java has fantastic world generation and includes Amplified.
What's with all the hatred? Bedrock is the version of Minecraft with all the good features like crossplay and should obviously be the main version instead of the PC only version that should have shut down years ago. Bedrock can run on all devices but java can only run on PC. We would be getting updates way quicker if we didn't have two versions of Minecraft, one good and supports everything, the other bad with an outdated code and PC only. Port everything from Java to Bedrock and delete the horrible, PC only, outdated, and bad overall version of Minecraft. I don't care if it's OG, destroy it!!!
your in the clouds m8 java is the best
I was reading through what people were saying and I saw a few things were wrong so I decided to clear things up. First of all, I saw a few people say that Java was "outdated" when infact, Minecraft Java is currently running on Java 1.8 (The best java version) & the code is infact dated. Another misconception I saw was people saying that Java was more stable than Bedrock when, again, it is not. Bedrock is and will be more stable than Java (unless Java is updated to be more stable), Bedrock also has faster world generation and graphics, but also has worse world generation and a few more bugs. Merging both version would also cause a small downfall in the redstone community, seeing as both Java and Bedrock have different redstone Physics. Another downside to Bedrock is that they have in-game payments (Marketplace) which is slightly annoying. Bedrock also has less free mods, less free add-ons, weird skin editor with no free skins, and is a terrible version for developing, (also you can't change to older game versions?). Now for the positives of Java we have... Free server and easy server hosting, free skins, more choices for developers, free mods, less bugs, more customizability, better world generation, earlier snapshots, and more big-name youtubers. So, I do think Java could be better, and I also think that Bedrock isn't the best. But I dont think they should merge, and I will always prefer Java over Bedrock, but that's just my opinion and thanks for reading!
In responce to what MCloot3733 said, even if Java was removed updates would still be rolled out at the same speed, theres different teams for different jobs, and if anything the new ui update for Bedrock is the one using up resources that could be used for game updates.
Java is SOOO SLOW. Bedrock has 1000 times better performance, but Java has more features. Mojang needs to find a way to implement Java Features in C++ (Bedrock Code) and vise versa. They should also add more modding and GIVE US BEDROCK PLAYERS SNAPSHOTS!!! Both editions are equally good (Bedrock is better for Normal People, Java is better for people who want to mess around with the game). Please add Biome Customization for Bedrock, or just add a /locate biome command.
bad idea. if mojang did this they would be firing a whole developer team, plus a decade worth of mods and texture packs. also minecraft would lose like all of the big java servers like hypixel, mineplex, etc, also bedrock edition has allot more exploits then java like giving yourself op on the server and spawning in items. this would ruin servers and destroy the community.
Mojang please do not do this, keep java running. it will ruin peoples lives if you discontinue java Edition!!!
also Yossminster this is a bad idea. do you want to be responsible for a lot of mad people???
In principle, this is a good idea. Great performance, graphics and cross-play for everyone.
The problem is that there are no mods, and everything that you want to add to the game is controlled by Mojang. I don't think anyone likes the idea of having to pay for some "Minecoins" before you can modify the game.
And, obviously, Mojang would have to fix the obvious problems with Bedrock first (e.g. Redstone).
It would be great to have a modern version of Minecraft that combines the advantages of both versions, but the current Bedrock Edition is still a representation of "post-Microsoft" Minecraft.
Fix it, Mojang.
