This is an idea I have puzzled over and think it might be a neat addition to Minecraft. Considering that 1.17 is coming out with the telescope (Which should have variable zoom but that's a separate topic), there could be an "upgrade" to the telescope where you craft together an eye of ender with a telescope. The result would be an enderscope.
What you can do is place the enderscope on a block in a specific orientation out of 12 (or 8) possible directions to face it in. Once you do that, you can link the enderscope you placed down to an enderscope in your inventory. Upon linking the two, you can look through the one in your inventory, and see through the one that was placed down. Essentially a security camera for Minecraft.
I think that this item could work at a distance of 500 or so blocks, so it could load chunks when used, but it should be limited to a certain distance to keep down lag. When farther away it could produce a "fuzzier" image as you look though it. For the 12 directions (or 8 directions) I mentioned earlier, the enderscope should be able to turn left and right 30 degrees (or 45 degrees), and be able to look up and down 45 degrees.
Myself, I think this would be very useful in making minigames and puzzles, PvP, and even redstone (possibly have it able to make a redstone pulse).
