    Very cool. Although navigating by sound is interesting I'm not sure many players would like a full blindness effect when they are there. But perhaps it could still be very dark or something else might give you blindness such as a plant you run into or a mob.

    Complete darkness (no matter how much you've turned up the gamma) would probably be best. That way out beyond the range of whatever light you bring you can't see anything. A potion of night vision would only let you see the vaguest shadows of movement.

    Total darkness means you can't see where your going and you fall into the void.

    It would be a difficult one to navigate. You would likely want torches or even a flint and steal

    It may also make sense to create a reason to actually traverse it since it would be so difficult something rewarding that you could find there

    I imagine the point of traversing this biome is to find gems that when used, teleports the player to the surface above them, only if there are no blocks under the player. These gems aren't super rare, but they only have one use. This would help players who fell off and are too late to use pearls.
