Ridiculously deep oceans with light levels darkening the lower you go. Why? To make parts of the ocean seem more scary. It could also utilize glowing fish (and squids) that spawn at low levels to illuminate the surroundings. Have caves that have local water levels to make an underwater cave system with air pockets, which would help with exploring. Reward/encourage the player to go down by having remaints spawn more frequently in lower water levels. If deeper oceans aren't possible at the moment, then possibly lower the bedrock floor first?
