Tin

With the addition of Copper to the game I think it would be a great opportunity to add tin.

The first obvious reason will be to create Bronze ingots which can be further crafted to make new items.

With tin you can also craft a new type of block called crying tin. Tin in real life is interesting in the fact that it can bend, and when it bends it makes a cracking noise, this noise is commonly known as the tin cry. This new block can be placed down to create noise, and will make a great counter for the new mob, the warden, who will be attracted to the noise, making it easier to avoid/capture it, whatever your preference.

Tin in real life is also rare, so rare that it shouldn't be added as an ore block which can be mined, but as a common find in the new archaeology system, whereby you can find tin ore, tin nuggets and tin ingots, within dirt and gravel.

Tin cannot be made into armour or tools, however a combination of tin and copper will make bronze which can be used to create armour/tools that will be stronger than iron, which it is in real life.

    I really like this idea, making it only obtainable mainly through archeological digs would give players more reason to engage with the new mechanic.

    However, if I may suggest a couple of tweaks to this idea, I feel like tin should have at least one more use besides creating bronze and a block that creates a distraction for the Warden. Additionally, it could have an ore variant, but the catch is that tin ore would have about the same level of rareness as emerald ore. To add on to this rareness, tin ore could only be found under a specific biome, such as snowy tundra's or jungles. Doing this would encourage the player to go out into the unknown and explore their world. 

    Overall this this is really good idea.

    I agree, this would be a very nice step before iron and could give a nice progression that matches real life of the stone-age/leathers -> bronze age -> iron age.

    I would love to see bronze armor derived from copper and tin, there are a large amount of roleplay resource packs and servers that would benefit from this as well.

    Maybe instead of using the crafting table or anvil we can combine tin and copper in the smithing table kind of like netherite thus giving the smithing fable more use other than upgrading diamond gear

    Honestly perfect way to make the current archeological system have beneficial non-rare item drops, and to finally top it off with a homage to the Bronze Age — which I always felt was missing in this game. Could even be used as a way to stop copper block rust by just having bronze blocks instead, and I would absolutely love new bronze tools and armour, with reasoning being that copper by itself would rust too quickly.

    One thing I would critique would be that even though bronze is technically harder than iron, utility-wise as tools and armour their weaknesses seem to balance each other out — and the main drawback of bronze is that it’s components are much rarer than iron ore. But since you need a very high temperature furnace to smelt iron, why not make the blast furnace be necessary to smelt iron (and because it needs the high temperature, it takes the full 10 seconds to smelt like in a regular furnace), and then have the crafting recipe for the blast furnace require either iron ingots OR bronze ingots to be created. This way, the metals and how they were used reflect their actual properties and historical practise, there’s a clear developmental process reminiscent of the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages, and while similar to iron, bronze functions as more than just a cosmetic reskin of iron, give or take a bit of damage/hardness/etc.

    Note: that’s just an idea, and if we were to implement it as well we’d need to change up iron farms (probably by turning all the iron ingots drops into iron ore block drops or something, and zombies rarely dropping iron nuggets instead of ingots), but I think this adds copper, tin and bronze accurately in a way that makes sense and makes them a significant step, but without deviating too much from the natural progression of the game. Also it maks iron ore a good learning tool for new players, encouraging players to keep the ore until it shortly becomes very useful

    I agree with the idea from Rolough of having a tin ore, but making it rare, though maybe not as much quite so as emerald, but found in a larger range of height. The idea of having it spawn more frequently in some biomes is definitely something I agree with. As a suggestion, I would go with mountains, which are already being updated and which seem like the right kind of place to find it. The crying tin block is a nice idea, and the bronze is definite, but there should also be another use or two of it. Additionally, it could have a cut variant similar to copper, to allow for players to have tin roofs and such. As for the bronze alloy, I would suggest a new utility block for the purpose of making alloys, an alloy furnace. It would be crafted with iron (or bronze) on top and bottom, with the middle row being Blast Furnace, Hopper, Blast Furnace, making it the intense heating of two metals that are then combined. (i feel this recipe really makes sense.)

    Finally and most importantly, get this post under the Caves And Cliffs category if possible, it will receive more attention. This must be added, it simply must,

    Great idea, but I don’t think bronze should be stronger than iron, it should be a gap in between stone and iron.

    I agree tin makes sense to be added with copper to make bronze tools but I think it should be the tier between stone and iron but iron requires a harder to smelt and be effectively becomes steel so that it is better than bronze. Tin could also but used for pipes, as I've seen in another post, for hopper items. I think tin could be used to make "Tins" that is an item inventory like the bundle that can only carry food, maybe it can contain a couple more stacks just for food and you can just eat the "Tin" to consume the food on top of the pile much like you can only take the top item in a bundle. This means you can carry lots of different food you find and just much on one item.

    I had the same idea about tin being added into Minecraft for the purpose of bronze. I was thinking how could bronze be crafted. Bronze during the Ancient Greek times was used a lot in armor and weaponry, especially spears and shield. So this is a great time to add spear made 3 diagonal ingots. And to make a bronze shield why not use the smithing table (the same thing to make netherite things). This will give more use to the block, since at the current moment it has little use. Bronze and Tin blocks will give us more building items. Also, Tins properties halt corrosion so maybe it can act like lapis in repairing armor and tools along with XP, maybe even for oxidized copper but wax is already a good solution for that. Tin is also used to make solder which is a fusible metal alloy used to create a permanent bond between metal workpieces, so that can change the daylight sensor recipe (maybe one tin ingot and 2 quartz?) And if heat was ever introduced into redstone, tin would be great for that. Now for bronze besides tools, would be a bunch of decorations such as cups, rails, window/door frames, and plaques. Also OP you should change this to “Tin/Bronze”.

    I thought about the same thing and bronze can also be used to make bronze arrows which are stronger than just the regular arrow without effects and maybe you can make a spear or bronze shield to 1 up the regular shield. I thought of the exact same thing I also thought about the idea of having steele in the game which would be a in between of iron and diamond. The only thing I disagree with is that iron is stronger than bronze at least from what I know it's more durable and has a higher melting point than bronze meaning it's stronger I think it would be better if it was between stone and iron that way it would make more sense but it would have more crafting options that way there is a reason to go out of your way to get bronze ai also think one thing Minecraft needs along with this expansion would be the invention of the wheel because we have horses and having a wagon with a chest would be really cool in Minecraft it would feel like we would move through time periods and ages just like history and after all there are the achievements stone age and iron age I think it'll be cool if they had a bronze age.
