The greatest issue with Minecraft combat is the incentive to run away during combat. Because knockback pushes a player away, a fleeing player can just get further and further from a pursuer until they’re safe. I propose that arrows impaled in the player, combined with armor rating, would reduce speed. If you get shot twice, and have two arrows sticking out of your chest, you could get a 20% speed reduction (all numbers are subject to change, this is just a proposal). However, if you are wearing full netherite, and you get shot twice, you’ll only get a 2% speed reduction, This would be enough to allow a pursuing player to catch up, while not fundamentally changing combat or making armor useless.
