    I feel like pickaxes and shovels aren't the best for PvP, and axes should definitely be Second class to swords regarding combat. Interesting idea though!

    Axes are being made second class right now. Even though they deal a little more damage (2 more than swords if you have Cleaving III), they are never ideal if you're in some intense combat situation, like PvP or looting Bastion Remnants. They could be useful in one on one combat, where range doesn't count as much, or just if you are frantic and want to get . They are both interestingly useful for different situations. The sword is primary, but a combination of them, like knowing when to switch to the axe to get done with the an enemy, or some special situations where you suddenly need strength but not speed and range, can be a good strategy, though it doesn't have to be that complex if you don't want it to be.

    Axes are currently very underpowered, but this is not the point of the post, is it? I don't like the idea of weapons having special abilities. It makes the system unbalanced.

    For example, currently axes can disable shields, giving them a (slight) use in pvp. However, if you are against an unshielded player, or against mobs, they are completely useless due to the lower DPS and range.

    If other weapons were to be given special abilities, we would have similar problems with them.

    Pickaxes doing lowish damage but ignoring armor makes a lot of sense. It might allow them to add higher armored mobs in the future.

     

    Shovels as weapons is a common thing is zombie survival scenarios. They should at least compete with hoes as a longer reach weapon.

    I think the pick should break armor and the shovel should be a blocking tool.
