In a survival game, you shouldn't be chasing the monsters down, specially when using only early-game gear such as iron. They're the ones who should be chasing you. I mean, it's called survival for a reason.

I often enchant iron gear when playing some quick hardcore runs. In my opinion, iron is good, it's diamond that is too strong with the extra toughness plus the superior protection it offers.

You can also get a Diamond set easily by trading with some villagers, there's nothing legendary to it.

"it's a survival game you should being chased around" if so, why are we given the ability to skip the nights by sleeping so we don't get chased around, and we do so often times if were wearing iron. Iron isn't early game it's supposed to be midgame like the iron age, it's leather that should be early game like the stone age but dang! A cow just drops 2 leather while we need 24 for the whole set. It doesn't help that the leather texture looks like the whole body of the cow with it's head on top and 4 legs present instead of tiny leather pieces. If only it was textured by pieces instead of the whole body and make one cow drop 15, then maybe killing 2 cows is enough for a whole armor in the stone age.

"You can also get a Diamond set easily by trading with some villagers, there's nothing legendary to it." That's why many of the community is pissed about unbalanced diamond armor, there's no need to mine for it in a mining game! You can get it easily in Ocean Shipwrecks for chests, villager trading like you mentioned, etc. Diamonds should be legendary sets, you literally made armor of an expensive decoration piece that only royals can afford.

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree. Yes, PVE needs to be rebalanced, but it needs to be harder, not easier.

Difficulty needs to be re-upped to the levels of at least 1.16 Bedrock, including boss fights with the Wither and the Dragon. PVE is way too easy as it is to be called "survival". Even in the Hard difficulty setting, and especially with the changes introduced with these snapshots to DPS, weapon speeds, reach and knockback, avoiding or defeating mobs is no real challenge.

Mobs need to be smarter and faster, and harder to kill to actually be an existential threat early on. Food needs to be harder to gather when you start a world. Natural regeneration needs to slow down as your hunger bar depletes. Shields need to work in both PVE and PVP. Etc.

Easy and Normal are already existent difficulties for players who want to play more casually, but at its core, Minecraft was designed as simplistic but ruthless survival, and works best when you have many options with little means, not the other way around.

@James Greenleaf since when is Mc a kids game?? Stick to easy difficulty if thats what you're looking for, but right now Mc is too easy. Jeb already said mobs needed buffing

If Jeb wants to make the combat more difficult add bigger and stronger versions of each basic mob. In survival games like Left 4 dead you are sorrounded by common zombies that die on one shot yet their numbers terrify you, that's the basic mobs like skeletons, zombies, creepers, and spiders should be. Meanwhile "The Tank" that takes bullet sponge should be someone like Mutant Zombie that is buff as hell and can smash the ground.

Let me tell you that they are definitely going to reblance PvE and game difficulty as a whole. That'd would happen in phase 2 of the Combat Tests, were they would focus on making many hostile mobs an actual challenge in the game, not just some annoying entity. Some mobs would be given shields, and the AI would definitely improve. At least Mr. Jens mentioned that this would happen. So it's nothing you have to worry about right now. You should try to save suggestions for phase 2 if you are thinking of a specific improvement to PvE.
