Balanced Shields For PVP And PVE With Tiers
balancing shields is hard because if it's too strong,then it's bad for pvp and early stage of the game and if it's too weak then it's bad for late game also blocking some amount of damage like 5 is bad.my solution to fix this is to create 4 tiers of shields - gold,iron,diamond,netherite - and make them reduce damage differently to mobs,players,projectiles,explosions.basically something around this numbers:
x:damage reduction of mobs melee,projectiles,explosions ; damage reduction of players melee.
netherite:80%;60%. + 100% explosion damage reduction.
this will make shields balanced throughout the game and not a weapon that you MUST have in pvp to defeat your enemy if they also got one - if shields reduced 80% then you'd have to get 5x times more hits on him with the same equipment.
also now that projectiles do damage through shields we can add a shield parry for arrows - if you block ~0.5 seconds before getting shot you deflect the arrow.
