As I understand it, Instant Health has been upgraded so that level 1 heals 6hp, and level 2 heals 12hp. You can also now stack potions up to 16, and drink them quicker than you used to be able to.
Being able to drink potions quickly is fantastic for quite a few reasons, but stacking them isn't so much -- especially with the instant health buff. Level 2 potions are trivial to create, so I can very easily get three stacks of instant health 2 in my hotbar which would total at 576 health, as opposed to just three, single potions totaling 36 health. Part of the point is to make combat NOT last forever, right?
Is being able to filter potions with your hopper systems really worth such absurdity?
Now you may be saying to yourself "but it's such a hassle to carry around a lot of potions in your inventory." Putting aside the fact that that is a good thing for balance, some potions such as water breathing, night vision, regeneration, fire resistance, etc. could simply have their effect time lengthened to be more useful, instead. Just putting that out there.
Alternatively, as Enders Host suggestion in the comments below, perhaps an effective cooldown could be worked out for drinking potions, or at least instant health potions, specifically?
