Stacked potions is currently a bad idea. Here an example as to why.

You might want to take a look at golden apples. They stack up to 64, instead of 16 like potions, collectively storing way more instant health. Also note that both golden apples and instant health potions are interrupted when attacked.

I actually think stacking potions is a very good idea, but the drinking time buff and healing potion buff are the problem. They are now like the golden apples of previous minecraft versions. You can drink them in front of a foe and heal yourself almost full hp, as it only takes 2 of them to do so.

To be honest, I was even expecting a nerf for potions after they were made stackable, but they were buffed?

A agree, though I doubt it will be changed because they seem to be listening more to mob vote than reasoning. I'd suggest giving the player the nousia effects when they use to many posions too quickly, or maybe just a cool down.

gas powered pick Golden apples give 4 absorption (2 goldy heart bois) and the regeneration effect, and are still eaten at the same speed as other foods, right? You're technically right, but wouldn't that make them far easier to interrupt as well? Don't get me wrong, I also advocate for a big change to the uh... "food system" of the game, but we have to convince them to do it first. Then we can have golden apples stack to only 8 or 16, or something.

Lukilester Yea but like gas powered pick said (not that I agree with his argument), they are interrupted now. Taking away the drinking speed would make them even more useless than they already are, and reverting them while only keeping the stackability would be convenient for storage, but it wouldn't fix their current uselessness.

Enders Host Hmm... While I still don't like stackable potions in general, the cooldown does seem like it could be a reasonable compromise. Although I don't know how long it would have to be to be effective. The nausea effect can just be turned off now in the game settings though, so that one's out.

A cooldown would be great. It could also be reasonable for Golden Apples.

    I disagree

potions are and always have been OP regardless of stack size because you can have multiple potions but you have to switch to them.
there is no sense to nerf them with the stack size
    the new combat increases convenience.

Its very bad idea to make different potions stack differently because this is confusing. health potions should be able to use them, without jumping through hoops of it being nerfed

I disagree, but for different reasons that others here.

Not stacking potions is silly and quite frankly breaks immersion. "Balance" isn't something Minecraft has ever been known for so I don't know why you're all so pressed about that. Like others said Golden Apples are broken as it is so your whole 'health potion too strong' argument is dead in the water. Especially when getting hit resets the drinking / eating animation. On top of that decently strong weapons can kill you in 2 to 3 hits, even with full enchanted Netherite. Combat isn't a finely balanced machine or anything.

There is no valid reason to not allow potions to stack. They're a pain to make, aren't very effective for combat purposes due to friendly fire, AND consume a ton of inventory? It just doesn't feel good. I almost never use potions because of their lack of stacking.
