C418 also has a lot of songs that weren’t used in Minecraft so maybe they could be used in a future update.  I just think C418 has a ton of great songs that me and many others want to hear in game.

C418 did work on the underwater music for 1.13, so it's not like they let him go.

I registrered just to vote this.

I don't see anything wrong with adding new composers, but replacing it as if nothing? The music of him is unique and gave him something distinctive to the game. Be good or not, you never can replace it.

C418 has been gone since 2018 when he made 3 new songs for the 1.13 aquatic update, ever since then lena raine stepped in to compose music for the 1.16 the nether update then she appears again in the caves and cliffs part 2 with a new composer name kumi tanioka who is known for composing music for some of the final fantasy games. both of their music is crap in my opinion (ill get hate for that). C418 created music for minecraft that left us great memories of the game. as a 8 year minecraft veteran now I just want C418 back hes better at composing music for minecraft than lena raine and kumi tanioka combined. im trying to do some research on where C418 has been and why he hasnt been composing music for minecraft since 2018. either he quit mojang to focus something else in his life or he has been layed off/fired from his job and replaced him with lena raine and kumi tanioka. Those are my thoughts of C418's disappearence and of what i assumed thats what happened to C418. if his music is removed and replaced by Lena Raine's music and Kumi Tanioka im quitting minecraft for a while and switch to a different game or more than likely play a version of minecraft i started on 8 years ago which is the 1.5 the redstone update. thats all im gonna say and have a good day you minecraft fans and stay safe during covid. bye bye! :)

First time coming to a Minecraft Feedback page, and I came here just for this. C418 is hugely iconic to Minecraft and to all of the community's hearts. If there is a major update to Minecraft's music, C418 has to be a part of it. Otherwise, it just wouldn't be the same game.

The new music from Lena Raine and Kumi Tanioka sound great by themselves; they're wonderful composers. But out of all the new music that's to be implemented in the game, only a few sound like they'd come from Minecraft.

Many people come back to play Minecraft not just because it's a good game, but because it's the game they grew up with, because it's the game they remember. I'm just afraid that Minecraft might no longer be that.

    For Mojang;

I know there was disagreements between Mojang and Microsoft but C418 is a part of Minecraft. Find a way to make it work. You can’t just take a piece out of something and try to fill it with something else it won’t work. It’s like taking the cooler of of a fridge and replacing it with a heater. He is a part of Minecraft and that should of never changed

as a brand new player from I think the 1.15 update I do love lena's music but I feel like c418 needs a big come back because he adds mystery to his music I feel like and I like that please before he dies or when he dies add music in memorie of him please it's so important for minecraft.

I don't think we have much time. On October 20th, 2021, he said that he was no longer going to be working on minecraft, but his 3rd album of the soundtrack should release in some form.

just heard the new 1.19 disc they are going to add in the game. It's feels just like a cheap remake of 11 disc by C418. Why Mojang, why would you add this new disc ?

Well you can use resource packs to get rid of the new music by replacing it with files using the same name but just make them empty.

Either way I totally agree that C418 should make more music for Minecraft. As far as I know he made some more music for Minecraft but Microsoft wants to buy his music and not have a license to use it which is where the problem is.

I mean the new soundtracks are okay but they just don't fit into the game as well as C418's. You can see the new ones tried to replicate the feel of the original but it just doesn't feel right. C418's music was either mysterious or just calming while the new soundtracks feel sad.

First of all, yes, C148 is a legend, I would love to see him return, with all the other people who are now also working on the OST as well, however, C148 wants to own his music, and Microsoft wants to own his music rights. That is a huge conflicting value, in my opinion if C148 shall return (which he wants to), Microsoft really should let it go, even if it isn't in their capitalistic nature to do so.

Secondly, they really should have allowed Mojang to make that decision for Minecraft. Microsoft just isn't interested though, and that's really sad. For a company that loves to advertise creativity and progress, they also inhibit those things.

Thirdly, the list of songs above by another Registered User were never removed from the game. 100% a lie.

Lastly, if Microsoft REALLY does not want to let go of the rights, I may offer multiple solutions:

    • A 60:40 split of the rights, C148:Microsoft

    • No rights go to Microsoft but Microsoft earns 65-75% revenue made off of the song on Streaming Services.

    • Continue to use the current license they had and let it go, it's probably cheap as hell if the contract has not expired or been voided.

    • Simply attempt to work it out with him without bringing the idea of lawyers like you did last time.

While these new compositions emulate the feeling of C148's music very well, that's all they are. Emulations. I really wish that Microsoft could realize their mistake in removing him from any future compositions.

Eh, It would be Nice if C418, Lena and Kumi Tanioka all made music for Minecraft instead of Microsoft cherry picking.

I agree, listening to to new music on the game right now just doesn't fit, I think there should at least be a setting to have the new music or not

I completely agree, It had been so long since my last minecraft update because I didn't really like the changes they were making to the game. But I finally Updated today and I got genuinely angry that the main menu music that came through my speakers wasn't C418. His music in this game is so iconic and adds so so so much to the overall feel of the game, the original minecraft theme is so engrained in my head with so many happy and fun memories that I literally will have to stop playing if they do not bring his music back in the next couple of updates.

I wish sooooooooooooooooooo badly that C418 would be composing more Minecraft music again! But I hope that they do not remove his music already. Moon City 3!!!

personally the music for the nether fits very well, but the caves and cliffs music feels as if its at odds with the music by C418, kind of like listening to a radio and they blast heavy metal right after some smooth jazz, it feels like a shock to the system in a way, like dont get me wrong lena raine and Kumi Tanioka are brilliant composers, but C418 just had this specific touch that made the music well, fit in a way.

C418's songs remind me of all the fun times I had with my siblings in Minecraft... Days before we became caught up with school. Lena Raine's music is nice but it just doesn't feel the same as C418's music.

If the music doesn't get added back I hope it at least gets put in a mod where I can turn off the song "One more day" that plays every second I breathe

The new music indeed feels like it tries to sound like C418, but has no soul to it. It simply lacks inspiration, c418's harmonics and dynamics.
Darn it, why did microsoft had to be like that? Cause no matter how much money they make, it's never enough?

A lot of it is nostalgia. What I think is the soundtrack should continue to be unique and distinctive, even if it moves farther away from the C418 style. What about xenharmonics? That's an example of something that could be interesting even if not quite right for Minecraft.

This is very correct on the statement that the new soundtracks don't have the musical and magical touch, with all due respect to Lena Raine in this setting and with the outstanding performance of the previous composer. minecraft music now has an expectation from its audience to be of similar composition as the original music C418 created.

Just think of all of the new players who never got to listen to his music. The people who did play during those times are now super sad that he is gone, including myself. Bring in more musicians to make music, that's great, just bring the music and him back so that we can keep the music as well as listening to new music. It doesn't feel like I am playing Minecraft without listening to that music.

I couldn't agree more. I have a lot to say about this and I think it's worth me sharing, and somebody at Microsoft taking it into consideration.

C418's music isn't just a part of Minecraft. It's absolutely integral to making Minecraft what it is. It is truly one of the defining features of this game, and is just as responsible for its "magic" as the visual style is. Changing the music is akin to changing the shape of the blocks. It's just not as obvious.

Since the past couple updates, I've been less and less interested in playing. Something about the way the game feels now is just different. It doesn't invoke that feeling of mystery and ethereal calm.

I'd get motivated to play, and then would feel tired of it within an hour. I couldn't understand why, and I genuinely thought about it a lot. But every time I'd play, something felt off and triggered a feeling of withdrawal. It's a subtle but profound sense of something being missing.

Then one day, it hit me. As I was playing, that "Infinite Amethyst" song came on again, and I realized it was triggering these feelings. The repetitive, anxiety inducing, droning note that just never ends, and the overly loud swell of notes that always makes me turn the volume down in frustration. It's an assault on the senses that just does not fit. It completely takes me out of the game.

Later when talking to my son about how Minecraft doesn't feel the same, his first comment was "yeah the new music is annoying. I just don't like it anymore"

    This must be done!
New players of minecraft should understand that the magic of music in the world of minecraft was in the hand of who is no more. :(
