    They need to have bear caves/dens maybe with vines falling over the opening. They could get creative with this

    Cool, I was building a biome earlier and had to use a polar bear.
    It ended up running away looking for snow

    There should be a spirit bear that spawns in the swamps at night, has a very low chance of spawning, but when killed

    Sorry, accidentally posted. When killed it should drop the soul harvester which collects The Souls of Bob's you kill and then Alicia's thumb to do a massive damage, does not have durability but does require the soles of your best friends

    Polar bears are kind of useless- I don't condone giving them some sort of drop to encourage hunting them; but they could at least have some interesting mechanics. (The trouble is there just isn't much to do in the frozen biomes.)

    ...But I can see a lot more potential for brown bears. They could spawn rarely in forests, and be more common in mountainous terrain. Neutral, (like polar bears), unless attacked, or if you get too near their young. A bear den could be a cool idea too. As for unique mechanics... again, Mojang seems to avoid incentives to hunt real world species besides livestock.

    Instead, bears could harvest and eat sweet berries, or maybe have some unique interactions with bees- trying to steal their honey, but possibly provoking them in the process. Even cooler, maybe you could tame bears/polar bears somehow, in order to ride them as a powerful mount akin to a ravager, with some sort of attack... or even find armor somehow? (Honestly, armored polar bears are just the coolest.)

    YES! Bear variants, please. There's already polar bears, now add brown bears and black bears! Brown bears could be more massive, aggressive, and deadly, becoming aggressive while in close proximity and especially in the presence of bear cubs. They could be found in many different forest types and in rivers, hunting salmon, adding extra danger while exploring wooded areas. Black bears could be more curious and cowardly, picking up trash that is discarded by players and running away from players unless antagonized. Bears could even inhabit the jungle, like sun bears!

    We have polar bears already, let's make a regular bear that lives in the forest biome. Make them spawn close to lakes and so they are able to fish. Their AI could be very similar to the polar bears we have right now!
