who said it was a political rewrite?!

@KahledTheGamer3 it's political because the rewrite was done to identify the Pigman/Piglin as a gender-neutral mob. You can find the info on the mob's Minecraft Wiki page.

If they change the Enderman's name I will be so mad!

Who said the Enderman's name is being changed? I'm pretty sure it won't ever change.

@Tyrone Freeman sometimes these changes start without us knowing it beforehand. Every Minecon or update drops a surprise, which includes some changes like a name change in the lore (another good example of a background change was the horse's model in 1.13)

Yeah, Mojang isn't stupid, their not going to change the Enderman's name. besides, what would they name it? "Enderlin"? at that point naming it "blargloff the third" would be in the realm of possibilities.

I think, if the enderman's name gets changed, it should be endermin. It doesn't necessarily mean they are men, and it doesn't change drastically the original name.

@José ValAce  "enderm-in" still sounds a lot like "piglin", and it's got me thinking about mints.

I checked the wiki, and I recommend you rechecking the wiki instead. The part where you read "neutral" doesn't talk about its gender, rather it's about its behaviour. For example, Lamas and Enderman have a neutral behaviour because they will attack if provoked, same with Zombie Pigman.

Also, I do not see what the name change has to do with gender. It is very clear that They changed the Zombie Pigman's model to resemble and become connected with the Piglins. The name change has nothing to do with the name ending with "man" which in the ACTUAL context of the name "Zombie Pigman", just means they are Zombified huMANoid pigs.

Finally, No, I do not expect Mojang to change Enderman's name for any "political" reason. ever.

@KhaledTheGamer3 look deeper. It's under the History section just before the snapshot releases.  Also, I'm not saying they will change the Enderman for the same reason, it's just a speculative topic that I thought should be brought up. I think the feedback site is a good way to list not just things that players might like to see, but things they might not like.

Can you please just show me the "political rewrite" statement with sources that would prove your speculation? Cause I haven't found any "political" reasonings on the official wiki page.

Also, for what reason you feel like they might change enderman's name? All the reasons I can make from your post is "mojang changed pigmen's name cause it ends with "man" so endermen might change as well lol", Like come on human! Mojang ain't that stupid.

@KhaledTheGamer3 I don't know why you're so bothered by this. To be clear, changing a name based on an idea about gender is political because it's done on behalf of a certain group or party of that belief. Also, I'm not making any assumptions with Mojang, whether or not they would make such a change. I'm not making a final judgement even with past evidence such as the Pigman to Piglin rename. But I set up this post to make it known that I wouldn't drop any other possibilities. I doubt you know Mojang any better.

Man does not always refer to gender at all, it can also refer to mankind or human. I kind of like the piglin name (not because of politics) but it sounds nicer and something original.

I don't see the Piglin name change as political at all. Every mob in Minecraft from cows to sheep, from pigs to hoglins, and villagers breed from merely touching noses. Their offspring have no obvious outward genders either. Applying a real world gender names to their Minecraft name takes away from the immersive-ness of the fantasy video game.

"Enderman" is the only mob name left that breaks this rule anymore. "Endermin" or "Enders" or should be adequate.

After seeing the thread on this post, I'd also like to point out that while Minecraft always had non-gender mobs–even before the game went to another owner–some hints of gender remain in the form of player characters like Steve and Alex.  You couldn't debate that the player isn't a human, as that would be the expected perspective the player plays through.  What I'm trying to say with this is that the Enderman, who just might be the closest thing to a minecraft human besides a villager, may also have a gender.  This wouldn't be easy to tell as they look the same as each other and alien to the player, but it doesn't matter because they are mobs that don't breed in front of the player.  If someone wants to argue that all entities except the default player have no gender, that's fine, but I don't think it would be a good enough reason to just change the Enderman's name if it were to ever happen.
