Yeah, Melee and Interact can't be separate, it would be nice to be able to dissociate them.

Many times I died because my character drop an item instead of attacking.

I totally agree with being able to separate the Use/Interact function from the Attack function. It happens so often that you want to clear mobs around a fallen teammate only to get stuck in the revival loop.

The most dangerous trap in the whole game is when the mobs drop items. You try to attack but pick-up the items which disables attack for about 2sec. If they drop a couple potions and some arrows you are stun locked and die.

I can't vote for this one, though - holding Attack is already a neccessary function: Continuous attacking.

Can you imagine trying to tap the Attack button fast enough to get all of, say, a Fighter's Bindings hits in? Pretty sure nobody here has reflexes/thumbs that fast. Add a Death Cap Mushroom to that, and there's certainly no way. Also, for those that can't tap a button frequently, as it is, it's a good accessibility function.

On top of all of that, trying to bind to a "hold" would mean that the engine would need to "determine" if the player is holding, or just tapping - which means that it would have to wait a split second before doing anything/making that "determination", thus introducing input lag. I run into this when playing Halo 5: melee happens when you press the button, but if you're mid-air, melee can only happen when you release the button, because holding the button down is reserved for charging up a ground-pound attack. It's jarring, spending the past 15 years expecting the action to happen on the button press, only to find that it's not happening until I let go, and only if I let go fast enough. It's terrible.

Anyway, go vote for this one, instead: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360067285191-Option-to-separate-attack-and-use-button-on-console-
