I think it would be cool to have an Upgrade Tree / Skill tree that is based solely on mob drops. This would be new to Minecraft Dungeons (i.e. skeletons drop bones and zombies drop rotten flesh)
When you kill a mob it will drop its respective loot which you can then use to upgrade certain abilities. That way grinding the game feels extremely rewarding and there is a reason to play each level to collect certain items. For example:
Bones from skeletons could boost ranged attributes.
Lapis from enchanters could upgrade the power of your artifacts.
Rotten Flesh from zombies could upgrade your melee skills.
Redstone from golems could upgrade your artifact cooldown time
And so on...
This would be in the format of a skill tree that the player would then decide what she or he wanted to spend their “items” on.
Nothing too extensive but fun and a challenge to fill out. It would also be a cool challenge to 100 percent it. Because it is not defined by your level it is more flexible than other games and allows for less fear of messing something up.
