It's been some months since the release of Minecraft Dungeons and in that time, we've added a wealth of new content to the game, both free and paid. Dungeons is a game that isn't just about completing every mission once, but building amazing characters and gear combinations to face tougher and tougher challenges. We have even more new mission based content on the the way, again, both with paid DLC and free game updates. Thanks a lot!

Hello, I too was very surpised. I have finished the game in under 3 hours and was like "this is it?". Fortunately it comes for free via Xbox game pass, but I cannot imagine my reaction if I actually bought the game.

It feels like it was made by 2 person indie developer team. I am very aware this game was not developed to compete with Diablo 3 or Path of Exile, but the whole game consists of 9 missions, one player hub and two vendors with randomly rolling items. Thats it, there is literally nothing else.

I was really looking forward for this game. I was not watching any pre-launch streams or gameplay trailers. I was not reading about the game, I was just waiting for it to be released. I cannot say I overhyped myself.

Now lets wait for Torchlight III, unless you announce any DLC that would at least tripple the content of this game. Three hours and I was done, I am not interested in trying Adventure mode, especially without matchmaking or some online elements.

I saw on the Mojang FAQ that yes, indeed, we will be receiving free updates to MCD (Minecraft Dungeons) so the game will be getting longer I believe.

The game is designed for replay ability. Mojang has already announced that free updates will be coming to the game, as well as upcoming DLC's.

Mojang follows the philosophy of getting things out to the public as quick as possible to get feedback. Much like Minecraft in the beginning the game will not have that much content. I am almost positive this game will receive constant updates and support just like Minecraft. They have already expressed the intent to do so. It will get more valuable over time. I personally think it’s worth the price as is. 20 dollars is not that much for a game.

Yeah, I bought it and loved it, but it is so short I almost feel ripped off. Please make it longer.

Yeah free updates is good like Normal Minecraft End/Ocean/Nether so on...

I also think its too short but I replayed the soggy swamp level like 3 times and got a new Level unlocked Swamp cave, so I think theres hidden levels to unlock. Thats why people are saying its too short because half the levels are hidden.

I think the new hidden levels should reveal themselves after you beat the game or get further into the game.

Then people wouldn't say its to short. It might be able to be fixed differently in a patch/hotfix/update. Just a tip, Mojang...

The game is getting dlc soon in July and in September

I must confess that I'm worried about the "coming soon DLC" being paid content, as the campaign took me only 6 hours at the highest difficulty with no deaths.

The whole game is gorgeous and has loads of potential, in fact I was very surprised to see

    • There weren't more vendors
    • The village didn't repopulate as I rescued villagers
    • My house didn't get bigger or contain any more trophies as I progressed
    • The only unlocked mode at the end was "harder mode"

The way everything is set up, it makes it seem as if these things would happen, but instead the camp is just a big empty space and apparently the coolest thing to do after the campaign is play it again on the higher difficulties.

I would like to say that I got kinda dissapointed when the game finished.I saw the *spoiler alert* staff getting resurected and I just hope that there will be more updates based on this.I loved the story and the gameplay but the length of the game is very short. Please add more free content and expand the story so that people can enjoy it properly.

in compleate agreement i made my friend buy this game saying it was great buut now ive made her waste it on a few hourse of fun not happy. i was more expecting 50+ missions not 9, look all you need to do is ad a randomly generated dungeon feature for players to play through and then your done and it would be a good game that i could actully consider playing fort a long time instead of just a few hours

Pretty sure minecraft dungeons was released prematurely due to Covid-19, so give them time to bring about more content, mainly in the form of DLC.

At first glance the game appears short, and yes while you can complete the story quite quickly, its made for replayability. You are meant to go back and do more exploring and find better gear with what you want and find all the hidden nooks and crannies of the map like the secret levels. Each level is a bit different every time with the procedural generation. Plus they are expanding the game and adding new stuff. So what I'm trying to say is it is short at first glance, but there's a lot more when you take the time to explore it.

I definitely agree luckily mine was free via game pass but only 14 missions???? Sure 5 of them are secret but not hard to find.

I agree. It was way too short. I was very surprised and thought that's it??

But on the other hand, I understand if this was some sort of test to see how popular it would be and if it would sell well, like when tv-series start with only a few seasons rather than 20+ season.

But when I found out that the 2 DLC updates were only 3 missions long I was disappointed again!
I mean why bother creating something people will go through in 1 hour?

Your game is very sucessful, everyone loves it, it's even better than Diablo 3. Much better! And that's saying something!

So make huge worlds, much bigger DLC's or Expansions that add a bunch of stuff, go all in!

One thing I just thought of, what if Minecraft Dungeons could have a endless randomly generated world complete with cave entrances, crypts, temples and villages/villagers giving different quests, just start in Camp and just take off and go for a Adventure and see what you find :D I would love that, but I wonder how possible that is for them to create.

We paid 26.99 for this and it should be longer than 9 levels

Definitely too short. I feel like paying extra because of the brand, like when you buy Nike and pay lots of money for an average show.

It takes me 1-2 hours to complete a single level, but I always fully explore the levels — do you just sprint through the levels, only focusing on getting closer to the objective?

Keep in mind that fully exploring allows you to sometimes unlock secret levels, I’ve already found 2.

That's like beating the ender dragon in normal Minecraft and saying the game is too short. The main story is not the focus, it's the replayability. You unlock more armor, weapon, and artifact types are you complete the different difficulties. As you continue to progress, you combine different gear with different types of enchantments.

I like everything about the game and as long as they bring more levels out eventually I’m happy

The point of the game is it’s replay ability, the story isn’t the main focus. You’re meant to have to replay all of the levels many times and power up as much as possible. If anyone thinks the game is too short, then it isn’t their type of game.

I think they do know this but they just wanted the game out for people to play and then they could just update more and more

The game is very short. Completing the same mission over and over for a slightly better item with better rolls for what? There is nothing to do past main story, it just gets boring. The dlc is only 3 missions and after that wait again for dlc2 which is also 3 missions... They really need to bring big updates with a huge world and I will gladly pay for that but as it is now, way too short, game feels like a alpha not even beta lol

Let’s see. There are nine levels. Each level has a secret level. There is one bonus level after unlocking secrets. 9+9+1=19. There are three difficulties. 19*3=57. So we have 57 levels, each difficulty unlocks better, newer gear. Complain about the length of the game once you have fully beat it.
Edit: I forgot to mention that there are free updates.

I would have agreed at first, but after a few weeks, I think the game is fine as it is.
From my experience, it seems that the length of the game is between 9-13 hours to finish the default mode with exploring (4-6 hours if your only following the objective only), plus 3-4 hours for the secret levels, plus 8-12 hours for the other two difficulties but with little exploring since you already explored most of the areas in the default mode levels.

So it rounds to 21-31 hours to finish the whole game, plus the game has pretty decent replayability, I get back to the game from time to time to replay a few of my favorites levels or to try new builds.
Overall, 20$ is a good price for the game.

There are free updates, but I doubt them being more content, probably just bug fixes and quality of life features.

So, let's suppose the game will end it's development after all the announced things are released. Very unlikely but just think about it like that.
We already get 9 levels and probably 5 secret levels right now. The next dlc announced 3 new dlc levels and 1 new free level, and we could expect 1 secret level as well (not announced but it would be very weird if they don't do that). We could expect dlc 2 to be the same. So that means the game will become 34 levels long, on par with path of exile 1.0. there's also "Island realms", which could be just a map or a new game mode. The first year can get MCD to a point where $30 become well worth it. Remember, it took Minecraft like almost 3 years to get to its first "complete" form, that is version 1.7. we definitely can wait. Plus right now it really takes almost 20 hours to find most of the secrets without looking up a walkthrough.
