Custom totems and politics

I really love the idea of totems,

 

Imagine having to chisle out a texture of your totem, and depending on what mmatterial you used for the totem it would have various effects. It could be a special armor slot that would affect your gamplay in many ways.

 

Allowing the player to chissle out the totem would allow for asthetics, like imagine walking into a village thats church has its own random sect or religion! It would allow for further gameplay, greator urge to explore, and further immirsion. I know that Minecraft isn't a religious game, but the world isnt like that, i think that religions and cultures of villiges should be explored aswell. Think of it as a Political update, where kingdoms could invade small villiges, or be ransacked by pilligers
