    I really like this, I even had a concept including the other illagers as well. I think giving another twist to this game would be great. Being a "Hero" all the time gets boring. I want an Illager army so bad.

    It should be if you attach an illager banner to your armor and they only do that if you wear the banner. Then all illagers that see you do it and adding that banner to another banner makes them listen to your banner

    New item: ominous shield, it is a shield with an illager banner pattern on it. It will make all illagers neutral. You would be able to level up your illager rank by killing stuff to show your skill. If you raise your rank high enough, you can ride ravagers, and if you max out your rank, you can actually lead the raids. As your rank goes up, your reputation in villages goes down, and vice versa. If you are holding an ominous shield, then villagers will run away from you and iron golems will attack you. There would be no way to get the totem of undying. (That is the trade-off, besides, you have to use the ominous shield to raise your rank anyways.)

    If you die holding the ominous shield, your rank cannot go any higher than it was at that point. (it can still go down, and it can return to that point, it just can't go higher.)

    While I love this, I honestly think giving the pillagers the ability to follow you would be unfair since the villagers don't really "do" anything for the player anyway, and this would cause chaos on multiplayer servers as anyone who didn't have the shield would be attacked on sight. No way mojang would encourage attacking villagers.

    Pillagers should still aggro you no matter what, but maybe implement a way to create an uneasy alliance with illagers in mansions, who sell you all the evil stuff, since you travelled all that way to see them. Harming potions, tipped arrows, totems, books, crossbows, only cursed tools and armor, fermented spider eye...nothing to help you eat, heal or build with, just dangerous and cursed items, and junk. They could maybe try to cheat or scam you on occasion and be kind of unreliable. Looting from the mansion causes them to aggro you. There should be at least one exclusive item from trading with them (maybe maps to other villages lol). Making a trading hall should be possible, with the caveat that if they die, that's it, as they don't respawn.

    This mechanic should be as simple as how wearing gold armor is enough to stop pigmen from aggroing you. Wearing something else should be enough, or holding something in your off hand.

    This way the player can interact with the Illagers without having to be "evil", still enjoy the Pillager mechanics, it doesn't abuse the Villagers or grief other players, and it fleshes out these relatively new mobs and mansion.
