Bedrock dolphins should give the same speed boost as the Java dolphins.
I conducted a test on both java and bedrock with the following conditions:
- I built a glass tank with the following dimensions: 5 blocks wide, 7 blocks tall, 100 blocks long.
- I filled the bottom 3 layers of the glass tank with water, ensuring that every single block was a source block.
- I put exactly 50 dolphins in the tank.
- I then swam to the other side of the tank with the dolphins giving me the speed boost.
On Java, it took me 10.3 seconds to swim 100 blocks.
On Bedrock, it took me 19.2 seconds to swim 100 blocks.
In the name of parity, could we make the two speeds equal (preferably bring Bedrock up to Java's speed)? Nothing is quite as exciting as zooming around the ocean in Java. Whereas in Bedrock, even minus the fact it is WAY harder to see in the water, it is way slower.
Only downside I could possibly see to this is that the increased speed might be a problem for lower-end devices. However, elytra on bedrock completed the same journey in 4.5 seconds, and lower end devices successfully deal with that on a semi-regular basis.
