How about adding the maps to the bartering loot table? Seems more appropriate to get it in the Nether

Good idea. Might also recommend just a unique way that helps find these nether structures

Agreed. If maps in the Nether become functional, they should show Nether biomes. Since maps cannot calculate the Nether's terrain, they should at least tell you which biomes are nearby. I also agree with ProCheetah91163 that maps to fortresses and bastions be added to piglin bartering.

Map in nether is useless as you can see nothing, also you cannot use compass too.
    • If you use a map/locater on a nether what you will see is the top of the nether.

Explorer maps can still tell the location of biomes, like rivers, oceans, and swamps. Also you can use lodestone compasses in the Nether. It shouldn’t be too hard to implement different colored overlays for different Nether biomes.

Nether maps would be really handy in with the new nether biomes. They could be made out of some strange nether materials.

I know rendering it from top down wouldn't work because of the ceiling, what if instead the biomes had indicative color and the shade from light to dark represented the ratio of air to solid.

I think adding a Lodestone to this structures will be a more fitting thing and the compasses coneccted to this Lodestones would be barted by piglins. This would make it different to the overworld but it will still make sense because there´s no paper on the nether and because Lodestones are made of netherite.

I like this idea, but maybe instead the Villager that provides these would spawn in the Nether, since it makes more sense for a Villager native to the Nether to be able to survive rather than an ordinary Cartographer.

Also, since sugar cane is not native to the Nether and cannot be grown, there would be a lack of paper. I propose that instead said Villager would provide a compass linked to a lodestone, with the lore explaining as such.

Personally I think you should get nether based maps from bartering with piglins instead of off the cartographer as it means you would need to go to the nether to get the map.

Another option could be to add lodestones at the center of nether structures (fortresses and bastions), then acquire the corresponding enchanted compass either through bartering or through trading with a cartographer. Each compass would be linked to a certain lodestone, similar to how buried treasure maps link to buried chests. This way you make use of a recently implemented mechanic, and get a "free" lodestone (these things are seriously expensive right now!)

The structures should have lodestones in them, and piglins should sell a lodestone connected to the nearest fortress. This would be very useful for speedrunning. These should definitely be implemented to fortresses but maybe not bastions

I have not ever made an eye of ender, I would like to go to a stronghold ligit in survivul without using creats, I want to beat the ender dragon at least once this year. And what doesn't help is the fact that I constantly spawn in the nether in random edges in the nether that aren't connected to anywhere, or maybe the piglins or the clerics could also cell blaze rods or powder. Or  maybe just make bastions and netherfortresses spawn quite close to nether portal spawns just a little bit hidden. Please make it eaiser to get eyes of ender. About 20% of the playerbase have acually even paid the enderdragon a visit. Oh and could you please make some sort of item that repels ghast from spawning, please they are so anoying (please don't make it too overcomplicated to craft like having dragons brethe because if you have dragons breath you wont even need to go to the nether again unless witches sometimes drop it, but anyway, just make some sort of map and make them easy to find and not needing to cross an ocean of lava!

the cartographer has never been to the nether so it doesn't make sense that they would trade them. perhaps bartering with piglins?
