A Bedrock Edition Modding/Scripting improvement (read for explanation)
So, the concept of this is best explained in an idea from vanilla Minecraft. Wood can be broken with nothing. Any form of stone requires a wooden pickaxe or better to be mined and COLLECTED. Iron ore requires a stone pickaxe or better, Gold, Redstone, Emerald and Diamond ores require iron pickaxes or better to be collected when mined, and obsidian and ancient debris require a diamond or netherite pickaxe to be collected. I could not list the possibilities we could create if Bedrock scripting allowed us to do this to our own add-ons. I’ll state this as simply as I can: I just want Bedrock scripting to allow us to choose what tools and what MATERIALS of those tools can be used to break custom-created blocks. I have had a very long-lasting dream to create an add-on that adds all sorts of new ores that require certain pickaxe levels to be collected, but this feature has never been added. No matter what you do, the block always drops its loot table no matter what item you use. It would also be cool if you could create component groups for certain tools, like a “shovel” component group that tells the game that the custom item is supposed to break dirt and sand faster than it breaks other blocks. I know that in the Nether Update, hoes now break leaves and hay bales faster than normal, so this should be possible now. The tool component could be optional in the .json file of the item itself, and the material level required to mine could either go in the .json file of the loot table.
