Rebalance axes

    Actually it wouldn't be twice as better than swords.

     

    Diamond Sword deals 18 DPS (6 damage x 3 attack speed)

     

    The Diamond Axe, considering this suggestion, would deal 18.45 DPS (9 damage x 2.05 attack speed)

     

    So it would be just a tiny bit stronger, and considering Swords have more reach than Axes, I don't really see this as an Issue. I don't know if they need to have the same DPS as swords, but I agree their current DPS is too low.

     

    Yet I wouldn't change the attack rates. 2 is ok for the Axe. (or more than enough at least, I'd rather reduce the attack speed for all weapons a little bit)

    I know combat test 5 nerfed the weapons, but regarding the old sword damage tiers, wooden axes deal 1 more damage than the sword in my tier. Stone deals 1.25 more, axe do 1.5 more, and diamond does 2 more. Netherite is very hard to find, and because you need a diamond axe to craft it, it wouldn't make sense if netherite axes are faster than diamond. So instead if increasing the attack speed and the attack damage there, I increased the damage by 2. As for the gold, I feel having it deal the same damage as a wooden axe, but having it almost as fast as a diamond or netherite axe is interesting.

    6.25? 7.5? This reminds me of 1.8 sharpness. But anyways, love the idea, except that the DPS of axes would overtake swords.

    I imagine swords as the super "basic" weapon. just the reliable standard. meanwhile, axes are slower, do more damage, and break shields. They also can already chop trees so they get more useful. If axes did more DPS than swords, they would be better for chasing running enemies since they do more damage in one hit, they can break shields, they can break wood, and they would break the game's balance of weapons. (rip poor hoes).

    I think axes should be swords +2, not +1. and the attack speed nerfed a bit.

    Except that they wont', you're leaving out an important factor, which is the reach. A longer-ranged weapon is definitely better for chasing running enemies

    The swords would still be better in duels, since 3 hits in a second with that reach should be enough to keep an aze-wielding enemy away from hitting you.

    The sword would still be a better weapon overall. Reach is more powerful than most of you think.

    And because of the reach, I think axes should be allowed to deal the same DPS as swords, or even more.
