    Yes (WinterAce)! It should be a game rule. I would want this to be default though, and turning it off would be “Cheats”. I’m going to edit my post with this...

    Well in the old 1.8.9 pvp, speed was key for landing more hits, so sprinting was absolutely necessary. Also, choosing not to sprint just to regain 2 hearts doesn't seem like an advantage. I like the idea though, so here my spin-off:

    When a player sprints, natural regen would be slowed. This means a splash regen potion would still work, so if a player splashed themselves with regeneration while they were sprinting, they wouldn't waste the potion. 

    Also, slowed means that the player will regenerate health at 0.75x speed. This means that players will be encouraged to find a safe spot to regen, not scarf food down on the battlefield. Also. 0.75x seems like enough because even if it was 0.95x, players would still stop moving. Its just the fact that it helps that will make people stop, not by how much.

    It’s not much of an advantage, but do we really want people walking in fights? It would be more for when you are very low and each heart may be precious, so instead of just deciding to sprint (Some scenarios you don’t really need to sprint anyway), you decide to walk. Also, it might be better if the rate of regeneration is slightly increased to balance this even more. Walking in a fight would be an option, but not a good one in most scenarios, but it could be in others.

    That is what I mean, regeneration potions (The Effect) would still work while sprinting, but natural regeneration would be eliminated. Edited my post with that...

    I do like that idea, and it is kind of a compromise, but I do not feel like it will do enough. New Players won’t even notice the difference, people already stop sometimes when they regenerate, and at 0.95x I would still sprint because who knows what’ll sneak up on you. 0.75x isn’t enough of a penalty IMO too.

    Finally, your idea doesn’t exactly fix issues #2, #3 and #5 (in my post). I just feel like my idea fixes so many annoying problems and inconveniences, as well as adding a little more of a challenge.

    I'm not a fan of completely removing regeneration while sprinting, but if they make it so the speed of regeneration depends on whether player stays still, is moving or is sprinting, i'm on board.

    Additionally, speed of regeneration could depend on whether player is in combat or not. For example "if player was injured in a last 5 seconds, speed at which he regains health is halved"

    This reminds me of how terraria does regen

    It could depend on movement, standing still and unhurt could gradually speed it up over the course of 5 secs or so (wich would also increase hunger consumption as usual so it isn't really unbalanced) but sprinting would lower it a lot, wich considering you're consuming quite a bit of hunger while sprinting, would mean that the amount you can regen is pretty much capped, since you would use up your hunger before you regen any significant amount
