Rude comments will not be tolerated here regarding various playstyles. :)

Shawn brunson, we don't need to be rude each other, cause their is a easy fix! Just add some damage when hitting mobs on certain difficulties, to adjust for the reduced damage. Maybe +3 for easy +1 for normal and +0 for hard. (:

If anything the changes being made to combat are actually making the game easier because now you can essencially spam-click to attack and Mojang didn't really speak about making the game itself more challenging although many could argue it should be (essentially because you can just skip the night with beds and you don't really need to go through raids)

I can appreciate your problem to an extent Mathochist. While I generally like hard mode and intense PvE, sometimes I do like to not be bothered by monsters much. Just about everyone I play with shares your opinion. However, let me remind you that attack speeds have been doubled and that reach has been increased for hoes and tridents. If you have difficulty with mobs, I recommend a diamond hoe because of its long reach and fast speeds.

    I agree with PureAwsome334

If anything, most weapons got buffed. If they were to revert the damage change, they should also revert the reach and attack speed changes, otherwise, PvE would be too easy.

But, these new changes allow the weapons to be more dynamic and adds some uniqueness to them, the damage tweak was needed for balancing reasons.

Some things you can do to make your gaming experience easier and more relaxing (specially in early game) :

    - Sleep every night. Don't give the mobs a chance to spawn (this is actually very useul when playing hardcore)

    - Light up the area around your house. (mobs won't spawn in well-lit zones)

    - Use a shield for the creepers and the skeletons (if you can't dodge their arrows).

    - If you tend to avoid facing mobs, consider using smite as it will help you deal with the most common mob, the zombies. (it will also help you against skeletons)

    - Keep avoiding them as much as you can, not everyone is a warrior. This game offers a lot of things to do. You can just be a farmer or an architect. Use villagers to get things from other parts of the world so you don't have to leave your home.

Of course the things you can get will be limited, but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's survival after all, you have to survive. It is supposed to be hard till you get better stuff.

Thanks for the tips. We do use most of them already. I haven't tried out the recent snapshots myself yet, but I posted this after seeing another post commenting on the increased difficulty of killing mobs in the combat snapshots. So I know this is a real concern.

I like the game having some challenge. Otherwise I'd just play on peaceful, which I don't find any fun. I want to be able to handle all the enemies, and I think the average player should be able to, on normal difficulty. I'm already really not sure that's true for raids -- can the average player defeat a raid alone on normal difficulty? Changing combat in ways that would make mobs harder for the average player would definitely be a major mistake.

To be honest, the best way they can fix stuff like this is to make hard mode harder and easy mode easier. Thought i do think 'survival' mode needs to be a more punishing (and thus rewarding as a result), and survival focused.

I want harder mobs because there is no point of building fortress anymore you can have a small house and done make a

    1 bed = GIANT WALLS

I can't defeat a raid on normal difficulty. But if you have cheats on, there's now a gamerule that turns raids off. I forget what it's called though. In a raid though a trick of mine is to try to block all the doors of the houses, therefor trapping the villagers inside, and running away. Then I can just run back and pick off the illagers 1 by 1.

Yeah, completely disagree. If things get to hard, just switch to easy :)

I'm imagining that what most likely happened is a lot of panic-clicking, which in 1.9-1.15 is punished to the ground. You essentially deal no damage to mobs if you're not following the proper cooldown timer, and with something like a raid and its high damage Ravagers and ranged Pillagers, it's to be expected that tactics that worked in 1.8 and below aren't sufficient anymore. That's sort of the idea to these snapshots: find a way to still reward the skills and tactics introduced in 1.9, while also re-introducing the skills, tactics, and intuition that were in 1.8.

"Of course the things you can get will be limited, but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Well then playing on easy isn't a solve for this issue is it?  Obviously this comment is too late.  But as a disabled player I don't understand why you couldn't create a harder mode if that's what people wanted.  As with the couple above, I just logged in after being sick for an extended period and since I wasn't playing with a partner, I had to use 2 of my golden apples just to survive being attacked by 20 mobs at once?

You made a game for people to play and now you're totally ousting the people who just want to play the game as it was created.  I want to run around in survival and build stuff.  I don't have friends that play, it's just me.

I was planning on buying a Switch and another copy of your game to go with it.  Now I guess I'll skip both.

There's just no reason to remove accessibility features like difficulty level, when you could add an increased difficulty for those that want it.  And that is what you have done.  Forcing people to play on easy because you've effectively disabled the normal function to now be what hard mode was, is not accessibility. Not that you care apparently.

I understand how hard PVE can be to some players, but we have 3 different difficulties - peaceful, easy, normal - each catered for players that have trouble facing mobs.

To me, my friends, most players I know, PVE and survival is too easy as it is! We have to make up challenges for ourselves, even on hard difficulty. I think Minecraft already sufficiently caters a more laid-back, casual playstyle, and is lacking in terms of consequences in PVE battles. That's why I'm excited for some of these changes, like slower regen and more varied weapons!
