End Crystals have to be removed as the combat meta

    I personally really like this! End crystals are relatively hard to obtain, so it's well balanced. But also, it takes about 1 second to place obsidian, place an end crystal, and then break it. All you have to do is block with a shield or run away. And also, when you break a crystal, you kill yourself.

    I honestly think a better way to balance this would be to make it where they can only be placed on bedrock again. You dont respawn the dragon on obsidian as the portal is made of bedrock. This would get rid of the power struggle of diamond armor being worthless without blast protection against it. It also discourages kamikaze players who will just run in to kill the player with gear even if they have no gear to blow both of them up making having armor not necessary.

    You still need to go to the end to get an end crystal, all a pvp server would need to do to prevent this is not have a end portal active/destory the end frame blocks with Commands. Another solution/answer is to just, not to have the game on hard difficulty, there nowhere near as effective on any of the others, this is an option for players there is no point for them to take it out well it's relatively simple to prevent if someone really wanted to.

    I like end crystal combat. Plus if you see someone place obsidian, just run! End crystals are predictable, and damage the opponent blowing them up too (Maybe not as much though). End crystal combat is really only effective on anarchy servers where the spawns are griefed, so you don't have to place block before using crystal. Plus, crystal combat is a staple hood of anarchy server combat, so removing it wouldn't be good.

    To some degree, I actually think that end crystals shouldn't deal damage when they explode. It's rather inconvenient in the Dragon fight as well.

    If you get killed easily by a player wich has the time to place 2 blocks and blow up the crystal then i think that the issue is somewhere else, like, dude, run away

    they dont, its the most advanced combat meta, heres a tip not to get killed, let you lower hitbox be lower then the end crystal, it almost reduses all the damge, as a 2b2t player and a crystal pvper, its way harder then sword pvp

    Any anarchy player knows that end crystal combat is very, if not more nuanced than normal pvp, especially post combat update when block hitting was removed. There is a reason so many servers play on 1.8.9 when 1.12.2 is just as stable. Its because the combat meta was better then. That's beside the point though, there are ways to prevent yourself from dieing. Like covering your lower, or even entire hit box. If you are not actively fighting the person who is crystal ing you there is no reason you could not place blocks in front of the cry to block almost all the damage. I don't believe the answer to your inability to react should be to remove an entire feature.

    End Crystal combat was never designed to work like this, it has no real role in the Minecraft combat experience, so why should it be retained? Combat is with swords, potions, bows, and the like. This crystal combat unintentionally nerfs every single one of those weapons, so why is it in the game's interests to retain it?

    As someone said here, make it so that it can only be placed on Bedrock, or make it so that it can only be placed in The End. On many servers, players have stacks and stacks of end crystals. They are not hard to obtain in the long term.

    Everyone is suggesting plugins or mods to patch the issue, but this is a vanilla problem that not everyone can address with custom code.

    To people saying "this is how anarchy servers pvp though": Anarchy pvp meta has changed immensely many times throughout MC history, crystals are merely one version of the meta. We don't need to hang on to it, there is no need. Plus, who really cares about the servers where everyone is just hacking anyway? Mojang clearly has no interest in catering toward a hacking-focused server type, so why even make that argument?

    Just because it was not intended to be a future of the game at release does not mean it should be removed. If we did that with all unintended features minecraft would only be a shell of the game it is today. If you don't like the feature you can just ban this spesific use on your server, either with plug-ins or with written rules on your server. Saying that mojang shouldn't care about anarchy players is ridiculous. It's alienating a large number of the players of the game. When mojang did a similar thing to the technical community by "cleaning up redstone" there was a huge amount of backlash. The combat meta on almost every server except for anarchy servers is still swords which to be compleatly honest, is pretty boring since 1.9 released. As for the hacker part of combat, using end crystals is really the only way to keep the fights somewhat equal between a hack user and a non hack user. They are a great equalizer for anarchy servers and on for almost any other server they compleatly are not used. Like I said above, if you don't like them, simply refrain from using them.

    end crystal combat is very powerful but I do not think it should be removed. If end crystals did no damage the ender dragon fight would be to easy and would most likely get the same reaction from the community as the 1.9 update as it removes a type of combat from the game completely.
