RubyMilo87 for me, that's a bit lazy to create a new tree, and to give it an existing name with 'dark' on the phrase beginning. Beech is original

No it dose not. The dark oak tree is a species of oak darkened by the fungi rich soil which it is based leaving a very dense, thick layer of leaves which in turns shades the ground making a better environment for the fungi.(Giving added reason to the natural generation for the giant mushrooms) But the Beech tree has thin deciduous leaves letting light reach the forest floor. In turn killing the fungi. So for the state of generation in Minecraft and the lore and basis of natural ecosystems. The dark oak tree is the perfect tree for the situation.

It isn't a species of oak - you said it is dyed by fungi, but it doesn't make it other species. Beech has thick deciduous leaves which create big shade
