"Buff" armor by simply removing the 1.9 penetration mechanic.

    The nerfed weapons make sense because the time between weapon swings was reduced.

    As for the armor penetration mechanic, I like it because it gives a realistic damage curve to the game. IMO if someone is wearing armor they shouldn't take damage from a punch but an axe to the head should always hurt.

    I think that PvE should be harder, much harder because weapons deal sooo much range! You can just push them back from far away.

    About the range: 

    Prior to combat snapshots, the reach had always been 4 blocks regardless of what weapon you had. (Test it, you may be surprised. Or correct me if I am wrong.)

    In comparison, the sword actually lost 0.5 reach as it is 3.5 blocks now. Other than axe and trident, most other weapons are 3 blocks.

    -Things like zombies and skeletons are just annoying and don't deal that much dmg anyways but if a mob deal a lot of dmg, it may deal exponentially more. I love the idea of making PvE harder but this should be reconsidered.

     

    **If the intention was to make PvE harder or not, the main reason they weaken the dmg of weapons is the armor, as this is their goal.

    They have also nerf them because PVE got easier with the implementation of reach.

    You all know right that the swords current reach is the same as it is in 1.15, right?

    "...in hard mode it can deal a bit over 9 hearts of damage in full protection 4 diamond armor..." That's why blast protection exists.
    *I do agree that weaker damage makes fights longer*
    And yes pve did get harder and slower but that just makes the game more balanced mobs were too easy to kill.

     

    And I don't know why they don't want to just revert it back to 1.8.9.

    I like the weapon nerf in general tbh. It may be too much for the axe though but it's still  a good direction nonetheless. An unenchanted stone axe with a crit can 1 shot most passive mobs in 1.15 and that's too much IMO.

    i do not think it should be removed, instead it should be reworked to make some armor protect against heavy hits and some against light hits. just make more use of existing toughness mechanic in short.
