With unenchanted items, the Java Combat Snapshots are well balanced. But when enchantments come into play, things get a little bit unbalanced.
Picture this: Two players having a PvP fight with each other, and both have the best possible enchantments on their items. What item do you think they would use the most for melee combat? Probably the axe. With chopping 3, an axe does the most damage, and disables shields for a whopping 3.1 seconds. And while this is good for axes, it makes shields be less useful against enchanted items.
So, I would propose a new shield enchantment. The enchantment would have 3 levels, and each level would decrease the time the shield gets disabled by 0.5 seconds. So with level 3 of this enchantment, a shield would be disabled for 1.6 seconds by a chopping 3 axe (like normal.) Also if a shield had a level 3 of this, an unenchanted axe would only disable it for 0.1 seconds.
I think it would help balance PvP, that's all.
