good idea but maybe it can hide in the lava with only the eyes sticking out like an alligator

The pelt idea is interesting. Is this another way to deflect ghast fireballs?

maybe it should pull in the player when the player is on land but close to the lava

I find that very interesting. Maybe it will have reduced damage with a special armor on? Maybe you could befriend it

I'm honestly not the biggest fan of the pelts, but other than that this is awesome.

if the pelt can deflect things how do you damage it with arrows since you can stop it coming to wards you with them. maybe add different arrow tips like say diamond arrows that could have abetter chance at dealing damage. also would do more damage than normal arrows

I like the idea of the Scalder Pelt reflecting projectiles. What if you could use Scalder Pelts to make some kind of Lava-traversing boat, though? I've always thought that having a boat that could cross lava would be absolutely revolutionary for the Nether.

Also, why shouldn't the Scalder not take damage when outside of Lava? That seems to me to be the only way to obtain its drops (unless the scales are specially coded to float on lava), and it also seems contrary to how current aquatic hostile mobs behave -- namely Guardians, who will attack and take damage when outside of the water.

TheYodaloop What I meant by not taking damage outside of lava was suffocation, like a fish on land.  I would've edited the post to clarify this, but there was an error where this post originally passed while exceeding the character limit.  So, I can't really condense all of this for the edit since it's already too long. :(

    An excellent idea again !

The only thing i would change would be the use of the Scalder Scales. This idea isn't entirely from me :

I like the fact that this drop is meant to have Blast Protection properties. So, if I had to change something, I would use this drop in the enchanting table and it would give you a higher chance of having Blast Protection Enchantments.

Here is where the original idea is from : https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360066069652-Enchanting-Tables-and-Lapis-Lazuli
