I like this Idea - but it runs the risk of greifers greifing it. Perhaps each user could place one public build plate which others can see but the origional player that owns the build plate must invite people in order for them to edit it. Of course adding public build plates means there must also be a report button for inappropriate builds.

    - edit: my spelling was horrible

    Yes, I agree!
You might put some effort in to your Build Plate, it's a shame that it just disappears afterwards!
Build Plates should be permanent when placed so you can go back to them afterwards, and maybe link together other Build Plates with other players that we can all enjoy! As SleepyCreeper1 said, to prevent people from "ruining" each others builds, players should be able to invite other players to modify their own build plates or make them "public", and be able to report people for inappropriate builds!

I feel like this idea could work if you can have settings on what they can or cannot do with the plate.

Yes and make option to keep it private if you don't want to see other people trash your build or open to collaboration which stands chance of getting destroyed

What about marking one of your buildplates as public, and having other players be able to see them on the map. Other players could be able to look at your build in full-scale AR, but like play mode, any changes would not save

Maybe the community can review the builds before they go public, and outside changes to the build reset at midnight local time.

I agree, and any edits people make you can approve or deny before others can see it, unless white listed.

I think this might attract greifers, but I would love this, so maybe only the creator of the build could edit it, but others could see it.

I completely agree. If you are in school you and your friends can have competitions with this feature and you can show your builds to the world. This was the one thing i don't like about the game, the build plates just go poof. This would be the best feature mojang could add.

Needs a mechanism where community can either vote away plates, or limit number of them per player.

I agree completely. Or at least it should allow us to place our own buildplates permanently. Also we should be able to place as many buildplates as we want at once to make it a virtual minecraft world.

I disagree towards the idea of unlimited build plates—three would be fine (maybe you could unlock them?). The only problem I see is children placing build plates outside their homes and attracting unwanted guests, so perhaps there could be approved areas for build plates. Other than that, I'd love to show off my build plates to others in the future.

SleepyCreeper1:s comment sums up exactly what I was going to suggest too, so because there is no upvote button for comments I'll just say here that I support the Idea.

-edit: just read through all the comments and I also agree with most other things said here too
