My vision for this dimension would be to have your world spawn basically duplicated for 1000 blocks in every direction in a grayscale version. Then it would cut off and fall into the void (the edges of the island would be cut off in a way so it isn’t a sheer cliff). Then beyond the original island there would be smaller islands (like the size of the end island) for every major biome in the game and the nether and end. These island would be identical from world to world and not dependent on the seed. On each island there would be a boss based on the biome it is in. Once you defeat all of them you get an achievement called Completing The Shard and the grayscale would go away. Also a portal would open up to go back home like in the end. This means once you go through you have to defeat the bosses in order to go back but no hostile mobs will spawn except for the bosses. Some of the blocks you break in this dimension will give you a shard of that type of item. These shards will grant you abilities when combined with tools in a new crafting block(like the smithing table). For example a coal shard on your pickaxe would instantly smelt ores. Or a lapis shard would improve an enchantment one level on you tools ex. Sharp 5 to Sharp 6. There would be a limit to one shard per tool so it isn’t super overpowered.
