Back when the only creative mode was through mods like too many items, flight inertia in godmode would bring you to a stop very shortly after releasing movement keys. I was upset when Minecraft released creative mode and found the flight settings to be inferior for use.
In Java creative mode, controlling movement is a challenge. I never noticed how difficult it could get until one day I could only use my laptop which ran the game at anything less than 60 FPS.
I should not have to struggle and correct my momentum as I am flying around my creations in creative mode. As I am decelerating very slowly, block placement is less precise.
Stopping from fast speeds requires me to fight my speed by pressing in the opposite direction. This makes no sense that flying mode should be anything but simple and smooth.
The slow deceleration in creative mode is unhelpful and does not provide any real benefits to what creative mode is for.
It may look 'ugly' to just come to a stop, but the point of minecraft isn't to make creative mode look cool. No one plays creative mode other than to produce serious creations and the fact that slow deceleration is still a thing in creative mode is unfortunate.
I would have installed mods such as justenoughitems or SethBling's custom flight settings (instant deceleration), but I am unfortunately in a realm.
