And for single player, make this free. I would like to play my world on my Switch and PC. Even if it uses a third party service for sync, like Dropbox or Onedrive.

Paying $8 a month for realms for just single player use is not a good solution.

Agreed. A native system for choosing the save folder would be great.

I used to have a jerry-rigged system that allowed Minecraft Bedrock Edition to save its data to my OneDrive.

    Read More:

I used to be able to trick the WindowsApps system into allowing Read/Write access to my OneDrive folder. But in 2018, after two years of using and maintaining that jerry-rigged system, I gave up on it because the Windows Apps permissions became more and more strict.

My jerry-rigged system was set up so my worlds and resource packs would sync via OneDrive to my desktop, laptop, and even to my phone. Loading and saving PC saves on my phone would corrupt the world seed due to version differences, but I didn't mind at the time.

Fast-forward to 2020. Things are going okay with local-only saves...until Minecraft Bedrock's .NET Native Runtime dependency just disappeared after a Windows update. After investigating over the course of two weeks, I discovered that the app's local data folder was empty aside from the UWP settings files.

All of my saves from 2015 to 2020 were gone. Including the one that I played consistently throughout that time.

The only backup I have is from 2018, when my cloud save system still worked.

I tried using several file recovery utilities to find the worlds' files, but the few files that were recoverable were from template worlds and downloaded addons. Even if I was able to find the world files, normal file recovery tools are unable to recover encrypted files.

I just lost all of my sons worlds on windows 10 edition because I falsely thought it was backing it up to the cloud like it does on xbox. This needs to be instituted. Also we have lots of devices and my son has to use specific ones to be able to play in different worlds. Not convenient when I want my PC and so does he.
