While one of Minecraft’s central focuses is on mining, the caves in the game get quite same-y after a while. That’s why I am suggesting cave biomes. There’s so much untouched potential when it comes to caves. You can have a lava cave, with lava coming from the ceiling and magma blocks everywhere. Or possibly an ice cave. Or a slime cave? I’m just throwing out some random ideas here. With a massive team of people, you could come up with some really great and original concepts for unique cave biomes.
But how would one go about implementing these ideas? A proposal I have it to have the caves correlate to what biome is above it. If you’re in a tundra biome, chances are there’s an ice cave under it. This doesn’t mean every biome has to have its oven corresponding cave biome, just create a few different types of cave (5 or 6 perhaps?) and allocate each one to have a set chance to show up in a certain biome.
This would give players incentive to explore underground more as they would never know what type of cave they would stumble across. Beyond getting resources, I currently have no reason to go mining and see what’s down there. Cave biomes could change that.
Thank you for your consideration and for allowing me to get my suggestions out there. This website is a blessing.
