Something I really don't like in minecraft is how 2 completely different biomes tend to spawn right next to one another (such as a desert right next to a jungle). I think that if more biomes that had more to do with one another were grouped right next to each other, it would give a much cleaner gradient of the world. So my idea to make this work are macro-biomes.
A macro-biome could be
-an area which contains only similar ordinary biomes,
-composed of an inner component and outer component, where
--the inner component contains only extremes of the macro-biome's focus
--the outer component acts to bridge the gap between the current macro-biome and the ones bordering it in any given direction
-could also only generate macro-biomes that aren't too unlike itself on its borders.
-can also influence the number/distribution of structure generation within its biomes (one may have 12 structures within it while another of the same type and size may only have 3 in it).
This would definitely be an interesting idea to fiddle with, because it would make minecraft a little more realistic, and organize worlds a little more satisfyingly.
