Elder Guardians have no trophy...

 

The Enderdragon drops the dragon egg which is a cool little trophy to show off your achievement. The Wither drops the Nether Star which is used to make beacons. The Evoker drops the Totem of Undying which has a handy use. The Elder Guardian drops a fish, a sponge and a shard... Three Items which you can get without fighting him.

Ultimately I find the Elder Guardian a pointless mini boss to tackle, apart from earning the achievement. He has no interesting drop unlike the other bosses in the game. I think that if he had some form of trophy or handy artifact like the Evoker, him and the Ocean Monument would become something more players would like to take on.

I have a suggestion of what could potentially be an interesting reward. The Elder Guardian Eye. The Elder Guardian Eye could just be used as a cool trophy like the dragon egg or have a useful function. A use idea could be that the Elder Guardian Eye ables the player to use its Lazer beam attack. To use the Lazer Beam attack you might have to create a certain weapon using the eye in the crafting recipe. The Trident would be a perfect fit for this. This weapon obviously would do the same amount of damage as a Elder or normal Guardian would do normally and also would have the same charging up speed. (Maybe It could have enchantments to decrease the charge speed and increase damage.)

That is my suggestion. Something as simple as a small trophy would make the Elder Guardian a mini boss players would care about and take on the challenge. It doesn’t have to be my Eye idea but at least something that is worth the time and effort. Something unlike a raw fish...

    No guys. Have the elder guardian drop the heart of the sea. It makes perfect sense. The wither drops a nether star, so why not? Also, just finding them in chests is so boring and I think we need a good ocean boss, so how about have the elder guardian spawn in a big room under the ocean monument for a more engaging fight rather than just crammed into the tiny space inside the monument. There could also be a few guardians in there with the elder to add a bigger challenge. A good boss fight should be one where the boss has the advantage, and you really have to be creative to win. Killing the elder guardian right now seems way too easy for what the presentation of the temple makes it seem like it should.

    The eye should definitely be the drop and be used to make a Mining Fatigue Potion too. Elder Guardians only spawn once in their temples so this would be a very rare potion and make guardian temples more considered to travel to.
