update idea: ancient crafters
Ok, likely a long post but hey this is a "lore" idea for minecraft.
Concept: The Ancients
info: the Ancients died long ago, no one knows what they looked like, or who they where. The villagers slowly picked up the pieces but only the player can find the truth.
Update features: lore books written in ancient (can be translated by librarian villagers), New top side dungeons in the form of ancient villages, and new rare blocks and armor.
Lets start with books
Lore books: these can range from childrens story books, to technical manuals of silverfish and how to use them for mining. Each one is different and while they have no game play function they can teach players how to craft things with in game instructions instead of wiki guides.
Lore book examples
three little pigmen: A story book about three little pigmen and a big bad bear. The first built his home out of snow, the second out of ice, and the third out of stone. Implies that pigmen at one point where a cold weather race.
Iron golem technical manual: a detailed guide to the iron golem, includes instruction images for crafting. Lore of why the villagers made them.
Illagers vs Villagers: A story of the faction split between villagers and illagers. Tells players that the split is because the villagers wanted to live at peace, while the illagers wanted to control the relm.
Mining with silverfish: A care guide for silverfish, includes instructions on how to attract them to an area and use them for mining. Upon reading the player will learn about two new potions which are detailed in blocks and armor.
Villages fall: A journal found in a cumbling castle village (the new dungeon) goes into detail on how the skeletons and zombies over ran the village, is a generated book with details depending on what the dungeon has, example if it spawns a complete wall but a broken gate will say a creeper blew the gate, but if has a crumbled wall will say that a traitor blew the walls, if spawns with both talks about a large wave of creepers, if spawns with an intact wall talks about an infection in the castle. Always has zombies mentioned.
info:: a large village the size of 3 average villages put together with a wall around it and a castle in the center. These dungeons are the largest generated structures in the game using the new puzzle blocks.
mobs: strays, zombies, skeletons, pillagers (can be seen fighting the zombies at night they stick to a camp varriants of homes during the day. implied to be looters), and silverfish (in the wall and the castle)
Crumbled castle parts
outer wall: has two version intact and crumbled. these walls have a walk way up top, and chests along the way which have arrows and rarely poisoned potion arrows.
outer gate: start point for the wall spawns at the end of an outer road has three variants. Normal, blown, and barricaded. Normal looks like a closed iron gate, blown has a big hole in it, and barricaded has piles of lumber on both sides.
homes: come in many types with the average home being the size of a jungle temple all homes have a basement, a living area, and a bed room as separate rooms. Some types have chests which can spawn lore books dyed leather armor, and iron swords.
barracks: a large building the third largest in a castle if all buildings spawn, the barracks has armor stands with chain armor bits on them, a new block called archery target, and has two varriants. A normal crumbled one, and a pillager base one. The pillager base obviously spawns with pillagers who man the two towers that are on it, these pillagers are hostile to zombies but not the player to which they are neutral.(info in mobs bellow)
Church: the second largest building if all buildings spawn. The church always has an inactive nether portal in it, and is a rather large building with stone stair pews and a bell in its tower. Has three versions. Crumbled which has a half built nether portal, normal which has a fully built but inactive, and pigman, which has a working nether portal and pigmen in it.
Blacksmith: another large building that may spawn, good place to find iron, gold, diamond, and other materials.
warehouse: can spawn anywhere that can spawn a medium house, warehouses are medium buildings filled items based on the warehouse type, the type will be marked by a sign in ancient saying "food, lumber, or potions" food ones spawn with "tables" that have barrels on them two layers on each side so 20? barrels each can have bread, wheat, fish, crops, or golden apples. Lumber spawns with chests and the walls stacked with 3 block long logs of random lumber types. And potions looks the same as food but has potions instead of food, the potions one also has a lot less loot.
guard tower: can spawn anywhere comes in three types, tall, medium, and golem. Golem ones spawn with a snow golem that has what looks like enchanted chain armor. This armor stops it from melting. The golem doesn't have a pumpkin.
The center of the crumbled castle will be the castle its self. Like pillager outposts it spawns with a set amount of types puzzle blocked in. the castle is always a large structure being about the size of an underwater monument. Aka really big its rooms are set but what they are can vary. Every castle has a thrown room and a library those are the only set areas.
Unique loot for the castle: royal armor, this is a full set of diamond armor with gold inlays giving it the enchantability of gold and the protection of diamond but at a cost of its durability which is half way between the two. And enchanted books lots of them in the library.
Blocks, and items
rope ladder: requires a block at the top similar to vines, continue placing on that block to extend down, is crafted with six string and two sticks to make 8 of them. they are used as ladders on the walls and guard towers in the crumbled castles.
archery target: a block with a target painted on it, is a flat half block meant to be placed on walls, can be crafted with a mob head to put the imprint of that mob on it. Arrows stick out of it and a bullseye can trigger a red stone signal.
decorative rugs: can not be crafted by the player, these are rugs with a pattern, sold by wondering traders and found in crumbled castle throne rooms. Red ones are more common.
half bookshelf: a half block version of the bookshelf. But not in the standard type it is a vertical half block instead of a horizontal.
wood plating and iron plating: vertical half blocks of wood blocks and iron blocks. Neither can be crafted by the player requiring Villager trades to craft. Found all through out the crumbled castles as decorations.
bamboo launcher: crafted with 3 bamboo, two sticks and one string. this tube is set at a 45 degree angle. can load any firework or fire charge. when hit with flint and steel will launch said item after 2.5 seconds. when loaded with a fire charge just makes a loud bang good for simulating explosive sounds.
silverfish potion: if drank poisons the player, if turned into a splash potion, will draw silverfish out of their monster egg blocks with out destroying the block. Allowing the block to be instant mined with out needing silk touch to gain it.
ancient mining potion: requires ingredients only found in potion warehouses, when crafted gives night vision, mining 3, strength 2, and fire resistance. Is a really strong potion but rare. Thankfully the ingredients when found can be planted on soulsand. (black nether wart or something like that)
repeating crossbow: a crossbow with a small box on top, arrows are loaded one at a time in the top before it is drawn. Loads 4 arrows and fires in a burst.
pillager horn: a one use item when blown in a village starts a raid, only way to do one with out bad omen.
Kings armor: diamond armor with gold inlay, has durability between the two. Has the protection of diamond and the enchantability of Gold. Other then that just a fancy looking armor, can craft a flag to it for a cape, default has a red cape.
Pillager looters: neutral pillagers armed with swords and crossbows. spawn in crumbled dungeons with the B type of guard house. Their leader can trade with the player but the rest just fight the zombies that spawn in the village.
Looter witch: a witch that is neutral, spawns bats from time to time. nothing more to say other then they spawn with the rest of the pillager looters. Throw healing splash potions at the zombies and pillagers.
Looter leader: The leader of the pillager looters, has many unique items from the pillager horn, to the repeating crossbow. Unlike other traders buys only Rotten Flesh.
Zombie guards: spawn only in the castle, these are zombies with full chain armor and iron curved swords (skimitar) or battle axes (two headed axes) rarely drop their weapons. Skimitar's are swords that swing faster and battle axes do 2x more damage then normal axes.
Skeleton guards: spawn only in the castle, these are skeletons with chain legs, leather chest and chain helmet, they use crossbows meaning they hit a lot harder then normal skeletons, but are less mobile.
