SteamVR Support For Bedrock Edition

The Bedrock Edition already supports VR through the Oculus Store and Windows Mixed Reality.

I would just like a way to play it  through any SteamVR headset so in the future I would be able upgrade from the WMR headset without locking me out of playing.

It could be great if it was added through Steam as a product but it doesn't need to either way. It just needs to support SteamVR.

    Agreed, currently I'm using a mod with the Java version to get into VR. The performance isn't optimal, making it the only VR game that gives me motion sickness. My other alternative is buying the Oculus version and using a mod to support my controllers. Unfortunately I don't want to buy Minecraft again when I already have it for Java and the Bedrock version. Not only that, but if mod support stops or Oculus decides to block out other headsets from their stores, I now lost money on the game. Not cool or fair.

    Wonderful points. SteamVR would be a wonderful addition to the game and would not require, or even justify a steam release. The exclusivity deal really makes the whole "Better together" idea kinda distorted. Not really playing together when I can only play Minecraft VR using a custom made mod for the java eddition. Really love the VR support in Bedrock from when I had Oculus, but I didn't let that effect my decision to sell it and upgrade to a completely steam vr friendly headset. 

     

    The reason steam vr works so well is because it is made with the intent of giving people open access to VR no matter which headset you use. It allows developers to easily accommodate wide ranges of headset with little work to individually tune the game for each one (But as we saw with fallout 4 vr, things can be made to not work for a specific headset even in SteamVR). To see Minecraft Bedrock add SteamVR support would be a bright day in my books, and I keep checking the internet every few months to see. This is a suggestion I fully support.

    You can play minecraft java but not bedrock, and if you launch the vr mod for mcjava the game is in vr then steam vr picks it up. They could implement a vr mode  or when steam vr see that the game is open it could automatically jump into vr mode (although it is not optimal unless your using a just for vr pc) . And on roblox on a few vr supported game like vr hands if steam vr is open it will jump into vr mode and steam vr will pick it up, if steam vr is closed it will stay keyboard mouse.

    Get this working on  SteamVR

    Im up for beta testing if needed. Valve Index support requested ASAP.

    should realistically be no problem as the game is now open xr based, teh only thing you really need to know are the command line startup params to put it in vr mode i suppose, i expect thats all that the oculus launcher does, start teh windows store version passing it a param to enable vr mode

    Still surprised that the team at Mojang has ignored this for this long. I have friends who play exclusively on Bedrock Edition and want to join in vr.

    this needs to happen
