    The shield ideas are good and creative but the problem is that the shield is supposed to stop damage from the front of the player, so having absorption will help only if your being attacked from the back, and 15 hearts is quite a lot for such a specific thing and in my opinion isn't worth all of the totems. Alternatively, you could make it so that having a totem shield in your hand/off hand, will give you 1 heart of absorption, regardless if it's being used or not, but would instead cost 1 totem. I would say this is a bit overpowered,considering how unprecedented extra health is in vanilla, despite the totem being needed, so I would have it so that it costs one totem, and having it activated gives you no absorption, but gives the regeneration and fire resistance of a normal totem, otherwise I think it's a good idea but I don't see it getting into the game.

    I think it should just be a 1 totem and a shield so it works just like a totem so you can have a totem and a shield on at the same time

    I think that the totem shield should be made with the two types of nether wood and a totem replacing the ingot. It would act like a normal shield until it breaks then it will act like a totem. It will also act like a totem when you when you get killed with the shield in your hand. it will then become a normal shield. A new totem can be put back into it using a Smithing Table. THis basically makes both items usable at the same time without interference.
