Now, when i say base stat increasing enchantments, I mean stuff like Sharpness, Power and Protection. These enchantments kinda wreck the tier list. This Reddit post shows this. (credit to fishg-)
I have a better alternative to this that could maybe spice up the combat as well:
Gear mods would allow you to turn base weapons and armour into altered versions of themselves! You could turn a normal broadsword into a shortsword that does less damage but swings faster, or the ordinary crossbow into a repeating crossbow that has a much higher rate of fire in exchange for less damage and accuracy.
The best part? Nothing is a direct upgrade! Everything is just as good as the other options! You can modify your weapon to suit your combat style, making for more interesting combat!
Modifying weapons is a new function for the anvil. You can spend materials and EXP on modifying your gear.
Some base weapons could also be renamed so that they have a specific classification (e.g, sword to broadsword, bow to shortbow, etc.)
